It's an intense form of rivalry mostly fueled by the father. A part of Pei still is stuck in their past childhood.

We know that Yu was caught breaking into pei Sr.'s safe years ago and also Yu has made it extremely clear that he wants nothing to do with the Peis. But despite all this, Pei's father still favours Yu (ij a professional capacity at least). Overtime, I feel this kind of made Pei's already competitive nature into something more intense and dark.

It doesn't matter if he has everything, the father has made it clear that they weren't Pei's accomplishments. Meanwhile Yu is this celebrated self made architect that everybody loves. I'm guessing this was the same back when they were kids too.

Since there isn't anything obviously wrong about Yu to hate, he's resorted to childish antics like hating Yu over his father's mistakes and taunting him over changing his name when none of it was Yu's fault or by trying to take what Yu loves (his projects, his mum's affection, and Xui).

Her savior complex needs to be studied. Idk if she's almost at the same level as Yifan's mum from TFF. I really hate how she has this matyr look on her face. Yu's reserved but we can see that he has a loving nature. Was it that difficult to be there for him even if she didn't believe him?

It's hard to imagine that after living with Pei's father for 20 years, how can she not see his cold shark like nature. How could she mistake it for fatherly love (even with the way Pei is treated) after seeing how loved Yu was as a kid? 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I liked ZX's interactions with Lin since it was so refreshing compared to most other SMLs who'd bristle or try to find fault of their "rival" to stir the pot. But in this case, despite the fact that he knew abit on how Lin was being looked down on, he still respected him and even empathised his situation.

Since Xiu already told him clearly that she has no interest in getting involved with his family feud with the bro (and that she knows that he's toying with her to annoy Yu), he should have known better.

At the very least if he wanted to thank her, don't do it at her office with a fancy lunchbox. 🙈

Pei has this misplaced pompous sense of righteousness. The fact that he did all the underhanded tricks to steal the project BEFORE he knew that the accounts were cooked tells a lot about him.😅

Based on the latest flashback it looks like at least for a short time Yu wasn't a threat. Seems like everything changed once he was around 13 (after he heard the call). Why was it so difficult for her to be more supportive? Or at the very least if she truly doesn't believe him, at least don't neglect him just to please her new family.🤦‍♀️ You know she's going to make a huge mess with Xiu too...I really didn't like the way she was staring at Xiu. I almost want to have her find out about their relationship just to see who she will support🙃

Hopefully! I’m curious to see Pei’s reaction once he finally sees the whole truth. Since he’s interest in the FL has shifted from beyond using her as a pawn to make Yu jealous, would he choose to help them eventually or will he follow his dad😅

It’s a combination of PTSD and old memories colliding with eachother. He was really young when his father passed away afterall.

TBF she knows that he is a wild card, rejecting the lunch could have backfired. She kept gently rejecting his offer but it was clear he wasn’t going to take no for an answer. She can’t even tell about her relationship since it was supposed to be a secret at this point - specially since Pei and Yu have issues with eachother, the revelation needs to be handled with care.

The collaboration has always been a ruse. Yu pretended that he has no choice but to accept Pei’s proposal but in reality he has no plans to work on the project with him. They’ll probably end the collaboration soon now that Yu found what he was looking for. Only issue is now that his mum is under the wrong impression about Pei and Xiu, will she make things more messy😅

He is a victim but given the fact that he seemed to have been at the very least a team leader/ supervisor, there might be a slight chance that he could be a key witness that could help Yu’s case later? I saw a preview where Pei’s father knew the father (at least to the point that he asked Pei if he really had no idea about who Xiu’s father was). For someone as ruthless as Pei Sr, Hu Xiu’s dad must be important for him to get so flustered.

The mum is on survival mode but is going out of her way to mess things further. She keeps trying (lukewarm effort) to get Yu to care for her but she never really reciprocates it. IDK if even she jbows what she wants at this point 😅

I understand why remembering their past might hurt her (she seems weakwilled enough to believe that Yu's dad commited suicide to escape responsibility). But feeling indebted to her so called "savior"shouldn't mean that she should be hurting Yu in the process.

I wonder what happened when they were kids. Since Pei mentioned that Yu was caught breaking into the safe, was this what triggered the mother's callous behaviour further?🤔
