Never watched any chinese historical drama. I am not sure if I should give it try. So tell me guys, Does it have…
i hope you watched it already, if not, the summary almost tells you everything that someone is gonna die eventually, so its not a happy ending. there is romance but its not the main focus. the main focus will be to seek justice for the wrongful death of his family. the summary actually tells everything pretty much :)
Yey finally done with this. so much feels! even though the summary almost spoiled everything for me still was not enough to prepare me for the inevitable ending T_T
Technically speaking, it was well made i.e. cinematography, cgi, fight scenes, costumes, production design. You can tell that it was well produce and they actually spend a lot of money producing this drama. Acting was on point! it made me cry a few times and got me really emotionally attached to some of the characters.
for the story, i was a little disappointed that a lot of important events were narrated instead of showing it as a flashback, i find it hard to follow the story since a lot of characters only exist in their memory of the past. for the first few episode i literally google the complete cast of the drama (and their relationship to one another) just to be able to follow the story better. it took me a while to familiarize myself to the key characters.
the drama may be 54 episodes but each episodes is only 40 mins long. i wouldn't mind if they added few more episodes for i was still looking for some scenes that i think still important, like how the bad guys ended and some characters that just suddenly disappeared. They tried to make the pacing fast that left me some unanswered questions.
Overall a solid 9.5/10 for me. this is the drama that can be compared to Six Flying Dragon in terms of production and epicness.
i cant believe this scored higher than Code Blue. dropped this halfway the 2nd episode. i just can't stand the MC. It doesn't give me the same adrenalin rush i got from Code Blue. and that kung-fu fighting director is not funny at all. like WTH?
it was fun, if you have couple of hours to kill, this is not a bad movie to see. although it can be a little cheesy sometimes. fight scenes were great but special effects and prosthetics were awful.
it could have been perfect for me if it was shorter. 16 episode is enough. i feel that it did get a bit draggy somewhere in the middle.
this drama combines most of the Kdrama cliche you can think of :
☑ sibling rivalry
☑ love triangle
☑ revenge
☑ search for long lost daughter/mother
☑ family (in this case the grandma) trying to break up the main leads
☑ murder
☑ blackmailing
☑ hot villain (Lee Tae Sung)
☑ and of course, what Kdramas is well known for - AMNESIA (well sort off)
there's a lot more cringe worthy cliches in here but still it will keep you watching it till the end. it was a wonderful journey for me. highly recommended! :)
edit: if you can't stand mean characters, avoid this. i swear, Jung Yoo Mi takes the word bitch to a whole new level. if i could just get inside my laptop screen i will definitely pull all her hair out from her scalp and drown her in Han river. I hate her so much that i literally killed her in my mind a hundred times. (lol sorry need to vent that out)
this is by far the best (for me) police/detective crime/investigation procedural drama that korean made. this is episodic but the first case will be connected to the last episode.
what i like about this drama is that every character were actually contributing something to solve the case. there is no single hero. everyone have their own specialty. no cheesy romance story and slapstick comedy. suspects in this drama were portrayed as close to human as possible. they will try to dig deep on the reason why the crime is committed, and those reason will be because of being human. it thus sometimes made me feel that they focus more on the suspects than on the victims' story.
was about to give this 10/10 but decided to leave it at 9.5 only because major cliffhanger at the end of the season. this could have been perfect (for me) if they added more action/fight scenes/chase scenes. that is one thing that i always look for police/investigation drama.
wtf did i just watched. i am confused as fu*k! this was torture for me to finish. it was all good the first half of the show, then after that it went meh. it became so dragging that i have to skip a lot of scenes. the 2 main leads pairing is not working for me. i just dont feel them at all (i think just the girl lead, maybe if a different female lead it may work). and that ending, dont even let me start. 6/10 for me. too much hype, should have trusted the comments and pass on this one. too late. 20 hours wasted :(
this goes straight to my top 10 best kdramas, no, make that top 5. a solid 10/10 for me. it got all the FEELS! it made me cry a lot of times but more than that, it made me smile, laugh and feel good more :))))) Ji Chang Wook's acting is on point! male lead and female lead have one of the strongest chemistry ive seen so far. their pairing is better than that of City Hunter. Highly recommended!
im so glad i stumble upon this. this is just perfect for me. it got all the FEELS! made me smile, cry, excited, everything! honestly at first i dont find Ji Hyun Woo good lookin but damn, he's so manly in all levels. he's just oozing with sex appeal. the more you see him the more he gets hotter! and he knows how to KISS! yeah! smokin real kiss! For a long time my only bias for best on screen kiss is Lee Jong Suk but now im not sure anymore lol. i also love how the female lead's character in here being aggressive haha, its refreshing to see female character who initiates the first move haha. 2nd male lead is also an eye candy and was actually rootin for him early in the drama. over all this is a solid 10/10 for me. finished it in one sitting. highly recommended. rewatch value 5/5
Had the drama on my to watch list for a while now and am so glad I finally did watch it! There were no loose ends…
i find this boring, does the magistrate will actually perform his duty or just focus on finding his mother? is he good in anything at all? like martial arts or is he even smart?
finally done with this, this was on my PTW list for a very long time. 8.5/10 only because of Lee Min Ho and Lee Joon Hyuk. if any other actor i guess 6.5/10
it does live up to its action tag - action / fight scenes were great! for the story... well it's full of Kdrama cliche. it feels like they combine all the kdrama plots into one drama its so bad it can cause you cancer cells.
IMO this can actually survive w/o the romance. i skipped a lot of cheesy romance fillers. they actually used a lot of songs in here, not just part of the song but the whole song playing while the main characters turn emo...
still enjoyable, but not worth rewatching (for me)
this is my first Chinese drama, and i put it on hold. need more reason to watch this
ive seen bromance, i think its taiwanese, are taiwanese dramas different from chinese one? i love bromance! its on my top 10. im not sure about chinese historical, i still prefer korean sageuks
