Omg that's a horrible situation your mother went throught. Humans are the worst species in planet earth, so many atrocities comitted. Well if you want to know a little about child trafficking police efoorts in China watch "Sword Rose". Its not in the 70s but it show how big the problem still was in China up to the early 2000s.

I like β" Romance in The Alley", its very family oriented and conforting . It starts in the 70s with the national exams reestablished, then kids go to university years later, and then job hunting. They show how factory workers lived, moments of corruption, family conflicts, etc. They even show the kids in Uni selling things in the black market. β"Always on The Move", also in the 70s, about train police officers dealing with crime that was rampant, especially child trafficking.
β "Like a Flowing River " this one is a bit older, but its about children of five black categories trying to go to university and later starting business. I remenber it was a bit harsh and didn't present ccp local leaders in a good light.
I feel like Iβm in a parallel reality. A drama that criticises the ridiculousness of communism has actually…
Plenty of chinese dramas criticize the times in chinese revolution. Its something the ccp acknowledges and allows them to show. This drama is even passing on CCTV the public channel. I was shocked before but watching a few dramas in these periods i noticed that .

You are wrong on your wish. it shouldn't be teleport/time travel, you need to transmigrate into this novel. But if you find a way i'll join you πππ€£π€£

I'm not sure I could give you a neutral perception of that time. There is a lot of propaganda from both sides. The Cultural Revolution was a period when they wanted to purge remaining capitalist behaviors, and intellectuals were deemed dangerous to the communist ideology. Education was reserved only for the people who showed devotion to their ideals. A lot of incompetent people were put in power just because they were completely aligned.
The party was very divided after the big famine with some leaders proposing economic solutions Mao didn't like so they were also sent to labor or reeducation camps. I think Xi Jinping father and Deng Xiaoping were also arrested. This ended with Mao death in 1976 and the leaders after him were responsible for China economic development like Deng Xiaoping. What i've noticed is that Mao is untouchable, they can't never talk about him in bad light. This was a political move because eventhough he was dead, he had a lot of supporters, so denouncing him would lead to political unrest. So even the leaders after him with completely different ideologies and who suffered in that time understood it was better to blame everything on others and not him. You would have to research the Red Guards, the Gang of Four, student farm movements, etc. The CCP doesn't hide the issues, but they put the blame on some people, like the Gang of Four, preserving Mao's image.
The series is set in 1975, the last full year before the Cultural Revolution effectively ended with Maoβs death…
I have watched a lot of dramas set in these periods and they don't censor words like "reeeducation camps", "five blacks" or even the students who were sent to farm work. What people don't know is that the ccp admitted the faults of the cultural revolution that's why they can show in dramas. Of course the severity of some issues are not completely shown but i have seen many dramas where the local leaders and politcal leader at that time don't always appear in good light.
That's so true I wasn't aware of that univeristy system before watching this drama. I feel sad for her if she…
Corruption was rampant in that time period and they would mask it as people not having enough collective spirit. Competence was second to ccp total devotion. I'm just guessing she might take the gaokao later because they started it in 1977.
Everytime i watch these kind of dramas i get so annoyed with the leaders at that time. I'm glad the ccp doesn't censor the problems with the university system back them. The gaokao is a more straighforward and fair system than referalls. This drama starts in 1975 so the fl will probably enter through the gaokao in 1977.
I had so much fun watching this drama. I love all the characters and hope for eternal rest for actress Zhu Yuan Yuan. I got very emotional thinking that such a vibrant actress has passed away.
Jobless people with multiple accs are here to hate Zhao Liying tsk
Their whole existence is dedicated to a person they hate. They probably subconciously root for her to stay in the business because they would have nothing to do without her.
The chinese economic transition from state contolled to private enterprises was not easy with policy adjustments all the time. But the work would have been much easier if cadres reported real data and problems and didn't hide them from authorities. The same issue happened a couple decades earlier with the great famine. They tried to inflate numbers to reach an unrealistic production goal and people suffered. Sometimes is best to present the real issues with a regulation.
