Then say THAT! If you had merely claimed "every Korean forum I am on is rife with criticism of Perfect Crown" I'd take your word for it! I've got no problems with that.

I'm not crucifying you, but just pointing out that "Korea" implies ALL of Korea. EVERYONE, or at least the vast preponderance of opinions!

Had you merely specified that some—or even many—Koreans are criticizing Perfect Crown, I would have readily agreed with you. But you didn't. (OK, now you do, but besides…) You said Korea. As in "Korea wins the World Cup" or "Korea reunification has finally been ratified by both sides." Words matter.

Do you think they time jump in this one?
I expect it will be more of a Mandela effect—skipping across parallel realities in her repaired Bugatti (at 88MPH), but not time-jumping, per se. They get stuck in a realm where her Castle card doesn't work and his title is moot, but they open up a B&B in Jeju and live HEA.

"I know Korea is hating on it and calling the leads bad actors."

Your claim is refuted by the fact that MBC has cleared their schedule this week to re-broadcast episodes 1-6 in advance of episode 7 to allow new viewers to catch up and ride the wave of popularity.

"It has continued to dominate the buzz rankings for two consecutive weeks after airing, showcasing overwhelming public interest. In the recently aired episode 4, it recorded an 11.1%, based on Nielsen Korea’s national household ratings, marking its first double-digit rating."

My theory: PM vetoes marriage. Claims it's not real..blah, blah. They have to make a public appearance claiming…
I like it but we have 6 episodes and should expect more plot twists. Also, Steve Noh said on TV that somebody dies! So maybe:

• Jin Mu (Yun Seong Won) puts a hit out on "grand prince's fiancée".
• PM vetoes marriage, engagement ends.
• Queen dowager forces arranged marriage between grand prince and Kim Jae Gyeong (her pick.)
• Assassin murders Kim Jae Gyeong (oops!)
• Engagement back on between ML & FL
• Marriage & HEA

These character descriptions are probably intended only for the entertainment press who write articles promoting the drama, and not for the casual viewer.

Is 8.5 a fair rating for this show? Thinking if I should give it a shot.
Although I normally don't rate a series until I've actually watched it, I gave this 5/10 after I gave all the episodes I've seen 10/10. But that's only six out of twelve. Eps 7-12 are stuck at 0/10 until I can actually watch them. So 5/10 for now seems fair. To rate this any higher would be guessing, right? (No one ever taught me how to do the math!)

conflicting feelings. at the same time, a sense of novelty and a feeling like "i've already seen this in dozens…
TBH, that's actually high praise for the script! Good writers strive for a balance between novelty & familiarity. Too much novelty, and most viewers have difficulty paying attention. Too much familiarity, and they get bored.

Releasing it all at once is only good for the viewer. It's completely bad for everyone else. The weeks long buzz…
Disney can do whatever they want, but I disagree that it has any major impact on their bottom line.

Time slot really only applies to the broadcast networks (or when a streamer partners with a broadcast network). It's only the diehard fans who show up to watch a Disney or Netflix show in its "time slot" (the minute it is released). Unless there is a reason to get excited (like discussing a popular show the next day at school, or over the watercolor at work, or on social media) most people will watch when it is convenient. And slowly releasing episodes to improve the subscriber base only works when a show gets lots of buzz.

Titanic was at best a momentary homage, and Cinderella doesn't really apply to a non-orphan chaebol heiress. What gets me are the all the fans claiming this is a rehash of that Dr. Seuss children's book where the commoners start getting belly tattoos to make themselves indistinguishable from the noble-class! (OK, maybe that was just me. Lol.)

Oh there were some speculations earlier if Yi An and his brother had different Mothers or not, after ep 6 It's…
I find this conundrum about Yi An's mother to be quite intriguing! If they have different mothers, Yi An's mother was assuredly another royal and not a mere noble concubine. I refer to how I Rang perceived Yi An to possess the regal qualities that were lacking in her own husband and son, both kings. Yi An's father must have seen this too, which explains why he was threatened by his secondborn—his reprimands, attacking his son for wearing the dragon robe, and giving him names to remind him of humility.

💍 Fun fact: A sapphire (the stone in the engagement ring) is almost identical to a ruby. Chemically, they are similar and the crystalline structure is the same. But different trace elements (iron &/or titanium) color a sapphire blue, while a ruby is red due to a smidgen of chromium. The more you know! 🌈

I forgot WLGYT was episodic, thanks. Netflix also releases their original variety & sports programs over time. But I think they've given up on splitting seasons into two parts (or at least I hope so!)

The Perfect Crown wears its budget like borrowed jewelry flashy but ill fitting…… The pacing is painfully…
You have a point. An unproven writer really can't protest when the production makes changes to their script—especially when the TV network (MBC) partners with a global corporation like Disney with its own committees of script doctors, product placement agents, social media strategists, etc.

I try to forget all of that while watching, so I can immerse myself in the story. I am very happy to be able to immerse myself in this and enjoy it! And I'm glad I can because sometimes I can't. I'm sorry that you are unable to do so! But I get it.
