Ah, my other from another mother! Yes, Cherry Magic started out charming, but the ending, I felt, was just homophobic, a sentiment confirmed afterwards by my learning that the older actor had it written into his contract that he won't kiss another man. (He should have been fired.) I learned then and there that one scene can ruin a whole show for me -- a realisation that would repeat when I watched Game of Thrones.
Ah, the comments section. After my experience with Love In The Big City, I never go there. I also firmly decided I won't put up any reviews of shows I truly love.
If you google Kiss x Kiss x Kiss with the BL titles, you can usually find links somewhere. The one Shoma was in is called "Atelier Kiss", and you can find versions of the Idol kisses in a few places. The idol kiss in the van is just *hot*.
Thanks for the great review and, as always, funny and accurate. And another original format! I love it! Your dedication…
You see, I had the same problem, but in the opposite direction. I really did not care for Cherry Magic, mainly because of its final scene, and while Kieta Hatsukoi was often charming, I mostly don't care for chaste, sexless BLs. (Please leave the sex in homosexuality, thank you very much.) When they remade them in Thailand, I was briefly curious, but nope, had to quit within 15 mins. of each.
I can't tell you what happens in the original LITA. As I say, it didn't really have a story to speak of, and I really didn't care for the other couple. But I will freely admit that there are certain... scenes... to which I have often returned, you know, for research. This one, on the other hand, managed to ruin Shoma for me, which is just unforgiveable.
Awww... Thank you! I've not really quit Thai BL. It was my sardonic humour at its most mordant. (I have slightly…
I blush to hear myself thus praised. Being British, I'm mortified.
The review I most enjoyed writing was for House of Stars -- and it is bantery, which is a real word, and I won't hear otherwise -- but it is also my least popular. Just the show, perhaps, but I had such fun writing it.
I'm really enjoying Kamisama. It has the potential to go into my Top 10 BLs. I recommend it! Though I generally don't put up reviews of shows I love. I did for Love In The Big City, and got burnt. Ho hum...
But, I might write a review of Rak Diao, just for you.

Awww. You’re so sweet. Also, no intrusion! This is an open forum!
I did finish Rak Diao, but a while ago, and hadn’t thought of writing a review. Perhaps I’ll revisit it again and write one for you soon, but for now, I’m fully immersed in Miseinen and Kamisama no Ekohiiki. (I’ve put up a review for the former, though might not for the latter.)
Tell me, which is your favourite review? I ask less out of egotism than to know whether what I enjoyed writing the most is also what you enjoyed reading the most!
I came here for a review but your story telling was so great I ended reading the whole thing and cracking up .…
Thank you, my friend. Your words just made my otherwise horrendous day. ❤️
Yes, I'm not very good at straightforward reviews. But also, I don't think there'll be any shortage of them on MDL. I write with two things in mind: (1) BLs are not serious most of the time, so we shouldn't take them too seriously, (2) we often tend to have complex and contradictory feelings about a show, and for me, a single-person point-of-view tends to strip out a lot of these nuances. Hence the oddness of what I write. When they find a sympathetic reader, such as yourself, it makes me delighted!
Hahhaha hahaha they probably couldn't afford to pay for a full dye job for Orca that somebody probably probably…
That would explain it! Though given where the budget seems to have gone -- bad wigs and autotuning -- I can't say any of it was money well spent. Apart from the boys, of course.
Okay , I actually liked the Drama but everything you said here is super true ! like HAHAH I enjoyed reading it…
Well, the only reason I can accept people watching the very worst of BLs is if they do it for a beautiful man. I suffered through the whole of Takara no Vidro for Iwase Yoji, and I still have a secret plan to marry him one day. And yes, Michael Chang and Charles Tu are both beautiful. But did the show have to actively hide their beauty? Did they have to be fully clothed most of the time? Sigh.
A master reviewer at their finest, who has me singing to the theme song of 'Friends.' May I say, nothing you write…
If I weren't unfortunately British, which means dying of embarrassment whenever someone praises you, I would scream with happiness at this comment. So, thank you! And as a token of my gratitude, I have edited it to dedicate the review to you.
Continue to review me, and hold me to account! Esp. when I muck things up!

Please let me know by which episode you win!
Thank you. And yes, I can always get on board with people disagreeing with my ideas, I just don't like ad hominem insults, least of all racist ones.
And yes, you are not alone! If you liked Mani-Pedi here, please check out my review of House of Stars. It is our proudest accomplishment!
