Zhehan is so bold. I admire him for that. With one single ment he made clear what he (and Gongjun) wants for future…
And it's rare because Zhehan is always known as lone wolf despite his huge network in the industry. He got small circle of friends irl. He always said, what you see on screen is completely different with him off-screen. Off-screen he's a boring man because he spent time for his family mostly.
so what ZZH said to GJ was planned but the producers had no idea what he was going to say. and they went crazy…
Zhehan is so bold. I admire him for that. With one single ment he made clear what he (and Gongjun) wants for future in front of thousand people on the venue and in front of the general audience.
Being in the industry for so long surely he understands its shi1ts and the reality of toxic fandom culture (solo fan and CP fan) also the possible relationship between BL actors after the project is done. Loud and clear he declared that he doesn't want to change his current relationship with Gongjun (whatever may it be) in the future on-camera, on public and on personal level also he prevents toxic narration spread between several major fan groups: SHL fans in general, WenZhou fans, Gongjun solo fans, Zhang Zhehan solo fans and LLD/CP fans. With this, he wouldn't allow something bad happening to him and his co-stars career in the future because of what their fans doing.
I admire him more after last night concert also my respect to him skyrocketed high hahaha... May God always bless you Han-ge!!
This article is clearly written by a Priest fangirl, I get it but please don't be lazy to look at the fact of the reality of drama production and censorship in China before writing the article of Danmei adaptation based on popular IP.
Priest started as web novel writer in small community and her BL works never intended to go to mainstream audience. Danmei in China was not BIG to begin with and it's not meant to represent LGBTQ community in China as well. The good thing for Priest is, her works are not solely Danmei as she explored many different stories. Major mainstream in China got to know Priest after Guardian and from there you can see her works started to attract big production houses and big OTT platforms. This is a shortcut strategy for OTT platforms to generate views, to acquire new users and to attract advertisers because online novel fans are mostly internet based users and those big names saw big potential of massive digital awareness (because of loyal fans).
Enough about Priest, now I'm talking about censorship in China. In China, LGBTQ content is banned from public views. On 31 December 2015, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) of the People's Republic of China announced a new rule that banned any television show and film depicting "unnormal sexual relationships", including homosexuality. As a result of this new rule, many popular web television series immediately pulled from broadcasting. Also do you know the main reason for this? Because NO rating system in China until today - It means toddlers can also watch any content that they want. Also CCP is controlling the content. China has one of the world’s most restrictive media environments, relying on censorship to control information in the news, online contents, and on social media. So, based on this scriptwriters and movie makers should find the way to pass the censorship - it's including to carefully hide same sex relationship in danmei adaptation with the words "shidi" "shizun" "soulmate", you name it.
What is the relation between my explanation and your article:
1. The article isn't in-depth enough to cover the reality of censorship in China making it difficult to adapting 100% from the book to screen.
2. The article seemed ignoring the fact that China has no rating system and tight content controlled by authority causing scriptwriter MUST change the grey character with no morality with something general public audience can accept and authority can accept. That's why heroic character is there, black and white character, justice always win.
3. The article seemed to glorify book and to fangirl over Priest as writer while in reality, the writer Priest has sold her IP to current IP holder and couldn't say much. Even for Tian Ya Ke, the book she wrote which later on adapted on screen to Word of Honor, she forgot the story because she wrote it a decade ago.
4. The article refused to acknowledge that book and live adaptation areTWO DIFFERENT beasts in China because live adaption surely made based on many consideration including: censorship, sponsorship, investors, production point of views, budget and what appeals to general audience in CHINA. With current population in China, please do not ignore the fact that the content you see right now is made for people in China and international audience is just a bonus for them. International audience is never being their target market. Ever wonder why Priest works didn't have official English translation?
The thing I took from today's concert is that entire cast was ready to play and everyone had a great time. That…
The most important is, they did love their work. And no negative narration spread between them unlike *cough* that caused toxic between fans even during the episodes still airing - let alone during the concert because I was exactly there :(. I don't want to compare here, but I can't help to notice. Healthy working environment indeed
Was there something wrong with Zhang Zhe han in the concert ?? he doesn't look himself at allhe was laughing and…
It's not. He is still Zhang Zhehan I know. Who said he didn't engage a lot? I watched him from 3 different camera angles and he enjoyed the stage and no, he wasn't calm at all.
Bruh...How is this 8.6? It deserves to be even higher!
IKR!!! But apparently some users said the reason why people rated it low in MDL because fans from certain BL adaptation rated it low :'( *sniff* But hey, for C-drama I tend to look into Douban rating more instead MDL.
The actors from IMMORTALITY are going to be a break through because they are already very famous and immortality…
I'm with you. I read 2HA and I didn't wanna put my high hope for its live adaptation especially when the writer, Meatbun, herself said to separate novel and live adaptation as two different creations. From there I can see the story- script would be becoming one thing that had major change.
2HA is big IP with many loyal fans unlike TYK (even Priest herself forgot the story hahaha). I'm sure live adaption will be big regardless it's good or not. But one thing I appreciate is, at least 2HA managed to have 2 real actors LYX and CFY even though CFY is rookie young actor there.
As for GJ and ZZH, I hope they continue shinning and flying higher after WOH because they truly deserve it. Their long standing hard work finally paid off and recognized by million of people.
I don't do RPS in my life....but......but....but.....................................................................................
