The thing is I've watched him way before WOH in Yunxi and Ruyi, both are OK for me (PS: "OK" level). But then WOH happened. My fault here, I watched this drama after WOH because I want to compare his acting on the contemporary drama project. If I watched this drama earlier before WOH, perhaps I would have a different opinion.

The reason why is the mistranslation from YK because the word 义父 (yì fù) means adoptive father or father by name. No blood relation between them and I think the translation should be "foster father" or keeping the original meaning "adoptive father".
I used to not agree with people saying YK should keep the original translation instead of writing it as "father" because I thought anyway in the international context adoptive son will still call his adoptive father as "father" and I think YK had the thought as well. But I see a lot of confusion in SHL international fandom because audience don't speak mandarin and see that "father"" is wrong context here - which is true.
While in the book, Xie Wang character isn't what you see in the drama. But I think the scriptwriter took the decision to "revamp" Xie Wang character to be what we see today in the drama for psychological context purpose. The scriptwriter enjoyed to toy with Xie Wang character and added element of "relationship" with Zhao Jing as his foster father and becoming twisted villain in SHL universe. Hahaha!! Otherwise we are not talking about potential villain pair in the live danmei adaptation. See??!! SHL is so bold!! Basically so many CP there aside of the main CP!! Evil Youku!! Hahaha!!
I binged watching this after I've watched Gongjun in SHL/WOH, to be honest I watched this for him - and I liked his acting here as Ling Rui. But what I didn't expect is I got so emotionally invested in this drama. I planned to watch one or two episodes initially because let's be honest, the plot and the story like this is nothing new.........but I was wrong!!
Oh Begin Again, how should I describe you??!! Until now, so many mixed emotions here. I laughed and I cried through 35 episodes and I didn't want it to end!! I like the strong chemistry between the leads and their kid is cute too!! Although the plot is so cliché and repeated in every arranged-married drama I've ever watched, but here the interaction and the chemistry between husband, wife and their child is so believable.
And also I kinda forgot that all I watched is a drama, not a real family vlog!! Their BTS with that kid is so charming and simple and sooo real. I can't move on, what to do??!! Even I cried listening to their OST too *sniff*
Will I be able to watch this after watching him as Wen Kexing with Zishu...? I highly doubt anyone can.... ahhhh…
I watched this after I've finished WOH/SHL and I found this drama is very cute. I enjoyed it a lot! It's a different acting compare to his WKX in SHL but it's refreshing to see and the story is light and cute as well. Well, I'm also WenZhou shipper in WOH/SHL to start with hahaha.
