Every drama has their own charm. You can't compare MXTX and Priest works, their works have its own charm so the drama is. With this, you can't compare SHL and CQL too, there are two separate production teams involved, hahaha. Of course every production team will be having different treatment depending on the director's vision.
TU/CQL has successfully brought Danmei awareness from niche community to mainstream audience, even to international audience like us. As much as I'm a TGCF trash I'll keep my expectation at a very low level for this drama. This story is having multi layered and complex characters and the plot itself is complex especially when different timeline, world and years involved. I can't imagine the treatment created by the director and the crew to visualize this. Also in terms of actors, I'll keep my expectation low as well. The perfect Huacheng and Xielian for me (visually) is still the manhua version of him created by Starember and nothing can beat that - at this moment.
If you keep the expectation low, the result usually is satisfying.

I don't hesitate to do DD even though top traffic stars are in the drama, for me the story is a must. I have also tendency to rant about K-drama and drop it especially when I basically grew up watching K-drama. I've experienced with tons of MAKJANG DRAMAS and I hate people raving about K-drama nowadays and becoming drama-fan-possessive when basically I've watched thousand plots like that. I also can sniff and smell the direction of the drama within a few episodes, especially in K-Drama because giirllsss!! I've watched tons of it and basically no matter the background story is or the plot is, or how handsome the actor is at the end K-drama is always, I repeat always talking about love with 2nd male syndrome and love triangle. It's not enough? Let's add bad mother in law in the picture.
I noticed recent K-dramas are improving but not all. Look at "Start Up" for example. The drama created a lot of buzz and captured many eye balls. The premise is: a woman who has dreams of becoming an entrepreneur like Steve Jobs, creating a start up. But at the end, it's talking about TRIANGLE LOVE STORY. Hell to the O, where's the Start Up we are talking here?! I dropped the drama in episode 2 by the way because I can smell and sniff the story and I didn't even bother to put it on my list, hahahah.

There are 3 fans in the circle: XZ fans, WYB fans and couple (CP) fans. If you go to weibo, douban, and other Chinese SNS, those 3 fans can't get along. They have their own perspective on things they do believe in. Better not knowing it because it can be very toxic. What I'm saying here is, both XZ and WYB are still young, especially WYB, he's only 23 yo. Their future is still long and It's a shame if fans hindered their career.
