I feel the same sometimes. And, yes, fantasy shouldn't get plagued with real world belief systems even though I'm not a fan of it. Honestly, I've been out of touch with romance genre as a whole for a long time so I think essentially I wouldn't be able to comprehend it as well. I gravitate towards more grey stuff for comfort. Also, I thought romance genre was thriving from afar. It was truly insightful to have this conservation with you. I feel like the root cause of the current muddled state of mind of creatives is micromanaging them to hell for increased profit margins. It has significantly contributed in ruining entertainment for us all. Gotta agree on that. Media has equally positive benefits as its downsides and more often than not most of us choose to ignore the former. Nowadays, all we see in the name of romance on tv is perpetual power struggle in relationships. Like, am I crazy for thinking that an ideal romance between a couple in a romance drama is one of selfless love, the courage to be vulnerable and willingness to stay together against all odds? And by this, I absolutely don't mean self-destructive love. It's been ages since I've seen a romance like this and also why I gave up on this genre alltogether. I haven't seeing crash landing on you yet even as a lover of everything taboo but I do absolutely get you.

On Two Conjectures About Marriage May 30, 2026
it's weird how everyone is more worried about newborns than the mother herself. like she is also in life and death situation. twins wouldn't be here about her. they've spend 3 decades with her and yet they're less concerned about her than the babies who just arrived? tbh, they're no more different than her s****y husband. all of them are always busy creating trouble for her which she has to resolve in end.

Hard disagree.
I couldn't agree more but I still do think that romance wasn't necessary in here.

Hard disagree.
I would love to know why to get a fresh perspective

On the other hand, I feel like I've run out of my delulu capacity. It no longer provides me momentary happiness. Maybe because it has become a part of my routine. It's not just the realism in them but I feel like modern romances appear so artificial in general. They seem to be trying too hard to make our hearts flutter but fail to do so cause they lack sincerity which ironically they're damn aware of. I was rewatching an old jdrama a couple of days before and the 'romance' in it flowed so naturally that it did catch me off guard and guess what it wasn't even a full blown romance drama. They were just teasing it but god how real it felt! I didn't know how much I missed that until I watched it. That's really comforting to know. Lack of fresh ideas made me think that the 'trend' died off :( xD

btw, I thought noona romance popularity died off since there weren't many fresh releases this year.

yep, you're right. it was a dumb take. Most noona romances are still stuck around 20-30 range so that 'older woman still looks pretty' and that's where I was thinking. honestly, tired of them selling the delulu of true love even as a fan of noona romance.
