Having read before that sumo is (shockingly, yes) still a men-only sport in Japan, the fact that the the sumo club captain is a woman (FL) intrigued me enough to try watch the first episode. I'm hooked and looking forward to the rest of the series.
I gave this 6.5 stars. The 3.5 stars were taken away due to: 1. the sommelier (her haiku habit starts to annoy by episode 5) , 2. the owner (can't stand him by episode 9), 3. some of the episodes being too sentimental and 4. Mifune's too hard to swallow jump of logic,
Otherwise, good job from Hamada Gaku and Kamio Yu. Also, credits to the writer(s) for realizing that Parisian food is not all there is to French cuisine. The last episode even featured a dish named in the Alsace dialect (which sounds very German) and unsurprisingly has potato as one of its main ingredients: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baeckeoffe
Bacon (the cat who plays Tama) is the real star! Also the director for bringing out the best in the cats. I have seen his cat documentaries featuring cats from all over Japan,
So what actually happened in the end? Who were the enemies? I'm so confused right now.Was it simply a UN peacekeeping…
the enemy was a fictional country called Far East Federation. iirc they sent a carrier with ~3-4 time more aircraft than ibuki and a few submarines. UN submarines only appeared near the end (after the pilot's death).
Episode 2 is prolly the only one that is far off. The scenario might seem likely in 1960 when the economy was booming, but in 2023 Japan has exactly the opposite problem.
lol dirty old man Sensei is the unsung hero there. This is high quality BL, acting is good bla bla, but to be honest I would not have enjoyed it as much if this Gamouda character was not in it. He was the catalyst of everything after all ;P
I don't get what went on between them sleeping together after Sensei's funeral and Kido getting married. Were they ever "together", the way Kijima and Kuzumi are at the end of the whole thing? Did not look like it. If so, why? Is it because Kido is not willing to give up life as a straight man?
It's been years and I finally watched it, and now I probably know why no one had subbed it. Most mainstream viewers…
yes, the AV actress's line describing what she wished would happen to men who masturbate to porns acted by exploited actresses like her - that was brilliant and doubled my respect for Sakamoto.
As someone who did genetics lmaoo it's kinda funny that all he did was put the base pairs and the doctor was so…
one reason I abandoned this drama after the cascades for various signaling pathway appears on the wall in the hospital ward. Lol protein/gene symbols and DNA base pairs. I don't like to be reminded of my work since I watch dorama to relax. The awful FL and the forced romance did not help either, since I generally dislike hetero romance in my doramas.
Dropped after two episodes. Mysterious ML does stuff for for no reason, and stuff includes falling in love with bland FL (who needed a "tragic" backstory and penchant for alcohol) to spice up her character....
Boring plot. Romance out of nowhere added just for the sake of having it there. No, no, no. I like Saito as an actor, but he is not good enough for me to sit through a story that makes fools out of audience and tries my patient.
Holy crap, that's what Toda Erika looks like now?Damn Im old
She does not seem to age well. Note also that she got thinner, which did not help. There are other J-actresses who age more gracefully e.g. the star of Quartet whose name escape me atm (yes, I'm old too)

- the bad guy conveniently carrying around the laptop containing damning evidence of wrongdoing in a suspicious manner right before the good guys
but I managed to watch until the end, more due to the supporting actors such as Ohkura Koji and Koike Eiko rather than the two leading actors.

not subbed. but the japanese is not very complicated, I understood more than 95% of what was said
