Amazingly, the main leads don't have to solely carry this particular show. The cinematography, the second and third leads, the intriguing plot, the relationship dynamics, the freaking cliffhangers, and just about everything else in this show is good enough, great even, that it simply doesn't need to be carried just by the leads.
I assume most, myself included, are absolutely enjoying it. But then again, if it's not your thing, then it's not your thing. Don't stress over it.

Considering that Shang, Zhi, Jue and Yu are different lineages, that is probably correct. And Zi Yu (at least based on the subtitle) always says "I will find out who killed MY father and brother" even to SJ and YZ. So they're mostly just cousins. Only in the same lineage are the actual siblings (i.e. Huan Yu and Zi Yu).

Kindness is a good foundation for character development in my book. ML has a lot to learn for sure but we're only at about 20% mark of the story, so it's still reasonable. FML is definitely playing everyone including the audience and there is more to her than what is obvious.

I don't think she actually forgot something. It was an excuse so she can examine GYZ's weapon (the one she swiped earlier when she pretended to fall towards him). YWS never had it in her possession. SGQ was signalling to her to check out what's in the room she just left by using the same excuse of forgetting something. What I don't understand is the meaning of the hand gesture 😵
