he’s bound by his duties as the only ancient god left, so he doesnt have the luxury of indulging in his feelings,…
despite him being the most powerful being in the realms, the freedom he has is not as much as other beings, especially the heavenly immortals/divine immortals. the time from his birth to his death is already predestined by the heavenly dao. he doesnt even have the freedom to his emotions. so he had only passed the time doing boring and mundane stuff, like going to the mortal world, recording the death of the leaves, drinking with the memorial tablets of his old friends.
i’ve seen a few people calling xing zhi a prick etc. bcs of his behaviours. while i cant say i disagree that…
he’s bound by his duties as the only ancient god left, so he doesnt have the luxury of indulging in his feelings, as he’s the only protector left of this world. he was created by the heavenly dao to protect the world, and as long as there is a great threat to the world (in this case the abyss), he can’t fall, ever. not to mention that the seals to the abyss are bound by his divine power. if he fall, then the seals will be broken. there’s this line that fl told ml that goes something like everyone else can fall, she can fall but he cant. and he himself know that so that’s why never try to make the thing between them serious, bcs he cant afford to. it seems cruel for him to be doing it to the fl but even tho he doesnt want to admit his feelings, he was still attracted to her, so he tried to have more interactions with her, hence the push and pull situation we see. yes, it was selfish of him but it was the very few things he desired.
also, his duty is to protect the realms, not lead them, so that’s why we can see him be so indifferent and lazy, bcs technically he’s jobless lol, at least when the time is peaceful, which at the beginning of the story is but as the story progress, it gets more chaotic, even to a catastrophic level due to the monsters and evils sealed in the abyss. and he, now the sole protecter, is bound by his duty to ultimately get rid of the evil imprisoned in the abyss. the more reason for him to not be swayed by anything.
there’s another reason why he doesnt try to make it serious with the fl. like i said he’s created by the heavenly dao to protect the world. so as the world becomes peaceful, he loses his reason for existing. i think he already understood this reasoning, so he didnt want to start anything. ultimately when he has to destroy the evil from the abyss, he’d have to say goodbye
i’ve seen a few people calling xing zhi a prick etc. bcs of his behaviours. while i cant say i disagree that in regard to shen li and their relationship, he’s selfish and callous, i wouldn’t say he’s a prick or a spoiled brat. he’s anything but that. though it’s not really evident now, but we’ll learn more about xing zhi and his situation as the story progress, and understand that he’s not such a bad guy
Are they? This xianxia explores a similar theme that was explored in Love & Destiny
there’s not really much connection between them, their meeting and thus fate was accidental, only bcs shen li ran away at the exact same place he was living as a mortal. xing zhi, as an ancient god, is fated to never fall in love. as an ancient god, especially as the only one left, his fate was destined to be lonely.
I have watched 5 episodes so far and I have a question: what is ShenLi?Is she an immortal? Or a demon (yao)? Or…
she is part immortal part demon, (i think immortal was what her clansmen were called in the drama). her mother is an immortal, while her father is a demon i think, i dont remember what it’s called in the drama but he’a a creature created by the devil lord that is imprisoned in the abyss.
anyways, she seems to like working with kim soohyun, this is their 3rd dramas
