Agree. I did watch the whole drama because I felt a connection to the characters and situations they found themselves in. I just which the director would have eliminated the more contrived money laundering plot and father's demise.

Agree! That whole plot line downgraded the drama. I guess it was supposed to show the FL that the ML was the person who cared the most about her?? It would have been a better story if ML went to Wuxi to work, regained his self belief and he and Moli found their way back to each other by reconnecting on a simple level. This 'grand' gesture of him rescuing her made my eyes roll.

For me, the last two episodes made me downgrade the show. Very unimpressed with the ending - as I am with so many Chinese drama endings.

Agree. The ending was a cop out. A stronger ending would have been for the father to come to some realisation about the wrongs he committed against his family. That he died and had mourners come saying how wonderful he was - was ridiculous! And left me with a very negative impression of the drama. I can see why the rating dropped.

Why did they end the show like this? Is it a cultural thing?

I did feel let down in the FL character when she told Jincao in episode 23 that she wanted to 'restart' without him. And then when he gives her the divorce papers, she gets mad at him!! That scene really annoyed me. She just seemed oblivious to the despair he was in. I have two more episodes to watch. Just waiting for the English translation.

For me the drama must have been a success cause, I watched the whole thing without fast forwarding or abandoning it.

I was hoping for more skinship but I'll accept the lack of it because I feel such an emotional connection to these characters. I really care about them on a human level.

Did you mean watching The Ingenious One will be frustrating?

It is hard to watch. I understand the disrespect she feels from his family but I feel so much for Jincao. He's trying so hard to be a good man. Episode 23 was particularly heart-wrenching.

Ah ok. I do love leo wu. He is an amazing actor at only 24. I did start that drama but maybe wasn't in the right frame of mind to carry on. I just started watching The Ingenious One for more Chen Xiao.

What drama is AASOL?

I was actually thinking about this. So many Chinese dramas are actually about the beginning of relationships - the new love - so of course they should have a lot of skinskin. SD is about a long term relationship that has come to a stand still. So it does make sense to the story for there to be a lack of affection - however frustrating it is to us!!

I finished ep 22 - and was able to skim through the raw episodes up to 26 - I didn't see any skinship!!!! That is disappointing. : (

I agree there are some but then I also think that they are the exception! The lack of skinship is a frustration with Chinese dramas.

I'm really enjoying this drama as I like the more realistic presentation of modern life. The characters are very well drawn with depth and nuance. The situations are relatable. I think if you liked 'Fake it til you Make it' or 'She and her Perfect Husband' then you will like this too.

About lack of skinship - don't you find this an issue with most Chinese dramas? I have watched very few where you see any significant skinship. Oddly it is usually in the lower budget dramas.

The single mom crosses the line when she tries to catfish Jincao with her fake gaming profile. The problem Jincao creates with his sympathy for the single mom is that Moli perceives him putting the well being of the single mom before that of their own family. Jincao is such a decent guy but he gets hurt because of it. (I only finished episode 20.)

They get divorced because the ML family is too oppressive to FL. They still love each other and want to be together but living their life without the interference of ML's mom and dad.
