I find the most engaging parts was the childhood part - yet unfortunately it wasnt the most well-fleshed out to the present. Mi So suddenly quitting her job seems out of the blue- and too webtoony (sorry for the pun) to be realistic. MS and YJ makes a great couple but like 2 characters on a paper- 2d. Their characters seems to lack depth and the dramas lack plot. And with quite a few filler episodes it lacks motivation. For fluff its good enough to watch over the summer. But if you put it on a list of other fluffy dramas i could think of a few that was written and directed better. The saviour was casting PSJ and PMY who are both very likable, solid creds and their acting pulled off what could have been a train-wreck.
OK I'm all about fluff and cheesiness. I may be the minority here however this drama did not reel me in. Imo its…
excellent example with Something about 1% - thats a drama that did this cliche Ceo-poor heroine the best- at the same time it had substance and character development. And it's pretty underated in my honest opinion
I really love the novel .it was one to rip my heart into shreds then patch it back again.. totally roller coaster of feelings. ..that im so afraid and pray really hard that this drama version lives up to it. i thk being 50episodes its gonna be milked and angst dialed up..
Given that i jus return to dramaland- i should be watching recently completed dramas but eeek i caught this playing on my cable and i am hooookkked. Shin Hye Sun is really brilliant in her woke-up-realise-i'm-30-scene.
I thk reviews are vy important when some of the sypnopsis makes no sense or sheds no light on what the movie/drama is about. Given that in any time there are so many new dramas and many viewers have limited time to watch- reviews other than ratings help to select and add on to our 'to-watch' list. Regarding should we write a review if we havnt finish a drama- that one's tricky. There are dramas that i watch 3/4 and dropped it; be it 12 episodes of a 16 episode Kdrama or episode 35 out of 50 episodes Cdrama. The writing of the drama must have irked or bored me or how much the plot derailed that got me to drop it after investing so much time in it- for me justisfies writing a review. Theres also dramas that i did cross the finish line but i skip in between episodes or watch in fast-forward in others- technically i did not watch the entirety but it's still checked as completed. Lastly, I personally thk it's worse to rate a drama after watching just 1 episode. It makes more sense to rate the episode rather than assigning a score to the entire drama when the drama has just premiered.
Thanks for writing the article, enjoyed it. Bringing into discussion on American dramas makes me realise that those that i watch was never on romance, mostly crime fighting ones. The only exception is the Good doctor, ironically adapted from Korean drama and I'm not watching it for romance either. On the cliche really depends on individual preference. There are some troupes that tickles our fancy while some that irks us. My biggest pet peeve is birth secret (and who was really the long lost daughter of who..), it's rehash way too much i have little tolerance for it. On gender-bender I dont care for it but I would still watch depending on the cast. My weakness is time-travelling .. i just enjoy the hillarity of a modern day person travelling back time and the shenanigans that comes with it. On Meteor Garden, my prefered version is the Japanese version, Hana Yori Dango and i personally felt the chemistry there was the best. Boys over flowers, no matter how popular didnt strike a chord with me and was my least favorite :) Just to share my opinion too.
wow the comments and opinions are so divided. My sis told me she would watch this just to relive the nostalgia but if the toned down version is as tone down as you all mentioned thn it's not really reliving it. It could be a plus in being different..i dont know we shall see as it progresses. What bugs me the most is the dubbing actually..
Aft watching Seul Gi Queen Of Universe it made me missed this drama n hadta rewatch it again. Still so amazing n beautiful. She had better chemistry with Do Joon who is also a much better actor thn AHS
Yes to all except While you were sleeping. Im actually looking forward to Chicago Typewriter. Writer n director are well-known too.
But the ones im waiting the most for is Park Bo Young's strong woman. And also Ruler of the mask.
It doesnt really matter d content of the special. I didnt watch. But i applaud the decision by the production team to air the special. Its a wise and neccesary delaying tactic. They were rushing with filming and the cast and crew were exhausted. Gong yoo had to stop by hospital and left with medicine. LDW req IV drip on set. Not to mention the crew who needed to set up and clean up aft each shooting must b overworked too.
The truth is i wrote it off as fluff during the promotional period of the drama but once i watched im hooked. It is a great mix of college life, athlete life, first love, enduring friendships and frienships that blossom to more. A bonus that not only the otp compliments each other each time they grace the screen together but also many wonderful side characters that grow on u: her sway besties, her dad n uncle, her coaches and doctor/cousin. Its among those underrated dramas of the year. I love the feels from this drama
