Exactly! His track record as NH has not been great. We know NH fell for her in episode 10 but she doesn't. She has almost no context to go off of. She has no way of knowing how deep his feelings run or how genuine they are.
WORD!! They took an intelligent, physically strong, loving character from the book and turned him into a stupid…
Sure! They don't make stars like them anymore, LOL! That adaptation also has Alan Rickman, doesn't it? That movie has been on my to-watch-list for so long!
The prude in me refused to let me enjoy Jane Eyre wholly. π Afterall, it was indeed an extra-marital affair, albeit the tragic circumstances.
I absolutely love Wuthering Heights! I read it as a 13/14 year old and it's been only one of the few books that made me tear up a bit. Actually, most sad stuff doesn't really make me cry. I guess I related very hard with its themes of loneliness, isolation, societal censure, etc. Also, the idea of being wild and free bordering on recklessness appealed to my inner restlessness. As far as the retelling style is concerned, I liked the idea of a third person removed from the situation narrating it. It takes away the agency of the main characters to tell their story in the way they wish to, furthermore, driving home the point that the society narrates their story with or without embellishments. Thus, the nanny may possibly be an unreliable narrator. π€·π»ββοΈ

IKR?! With them, it's ride or die together. Given how this drama was not exactly focused on their romance, it gave us such a beautiful couple. Also, I love the found family element in the drama.
I also really have to point out how FL just embraced the transmigration. We could have spent 4 eps on her trying…
I feel that she was unhappy and lonely in her life which is why she took to the script world as well as she did. Even though she kept claiming that she aspired to have an easy, slacker life; deep down I believe she felt terribly lonely and unfulfilled given how after she became an empress, she sought to better the lives of her people.
Everyone banging on about what an idiot the female lead is needs to go back and watch this again. They need to…
Preach! What I feel is that most viewers refused to acknowledge that SYM is allowed to retain her intellectual faculties as well as her self-preservation instincts while being in love with LSL/NH.

I am more of a BrontΓ« sisters' fan. For me, Austen's characters always seemed to be too self-absorbed which is understandable given the time period.
I like Emma more, the characters in the book seemed to have more spunk. π
P.S.: Like your username. Austen fan, I presume?
