Some viewers seem to take umbrage at supposedly innocent MLs in KDramaland every few hours in every other drama page. Why not fly down to South Korea themselves to remedy the issue? Surely that would save them a lot of time and be productive in the long run in the interest of KDramas in general. Afterall, most need salvation and few are willing to help those in need.

No worries. I admit I got a bit too invested, LOL. Troubled, realistic FLs are really hard to come by in KDramas and LSY plays offbeat characters really well. KH and all other characters in this drama feel very lived in.

They really ran out of ideas for their English titles, LMAO.

Finally someone asked this question, LMAO. Not really, but KH's father seems to like the idea of things Americana, if you get what I mean. The very idea of a motel in a remote Korean area seems to be inspired by those found in sleepy, sometimes skeevy, in mostly rural American towns.
The sentiments expressed in the song sort of match with the rumours surrounding her father's motel, and its overall mystique. It seems to attract both trouble and castaways.

You are in the minority, yet, you are not the only one. She feels like a person who you might actually meet in real life. The people to whom you can show your worst self without any judgement are also the people from whom you might want to hide it the most. I feel KH, under all that brazen behaviour, has really low self-esteem. I also think she both wishes YS to do better, yet, cannot stop being in love with him and jealous of dating rivals. People like her direct hatred towards themselves, even though they know better. They think they don't deserve to be loved by people who they think are "better". It's a vicious cycle. No amount of affirmation from outside helps to stop such negative feelings unless they decide to make peace with themselves as they are.
From what I understand the reason why the ML loves her unconditionally is because she is a constant... It's kinda hard to explain but given how his mother is, I think KH was as much of a safe space for him as he was for her. I mean little KH must have totally taken him under her wing. 😅 This is one of the few dramas where the trope of childhood love fits.

It's hard to keep up with the changes in rules.

Tell me about it! Tbh, I love grey characters. I think this standard is more rigid for female characters. Initially, most seemed to have been so taken aback that the FL in a Korean drama is fundamentally flawed and not a saint saving the world. 😄

Absolutely. On MDL here, KH is being labelled as a red flag and a b*tch and everything in between. And I am like, traumatised individuals, especially women, represent! 😄🤷🏻‍♀️

The 4th episode had such cute moments of hilarity.
The way little KH almost tackled timid little YS into the seat adjacent to hers.
GSG being unsuccessful in getting the local police to look for the "missing" KH and then sitting guard at her door against apparent thugs in her dad's motel.
I love the group of "gangsters". I would happily watch these guys just hanging out together.
I am beginning to be a bit puzzled by their female friend, though. Why does she keep misrepresenting the facts to KH? At first, I had assumed it was her misguided attempt to nudge KH and YS together. But now, I have no flipping clue.

We often end up as our own worst critics. One of the reasons why I love and emphasise with Kang Hee is that how she's keenly aware of herself and her surroundings, yet, despite moving so far away, she still gets stuck at things from her past, both good and bad. This is so relatable. No matter where one goes, memories follow and pervade your thought and action.

True. Dealing with toxic people, especially when they are family, is exhausting. Moreover, it's mystifying how they can wrest away your agency with just a snide remark or two. As you observed, it takes a while to give it back as good you get and not feel guilty about it, LOL, saying this from personal experience.

Glad to know that she has now drawn boundaries and is at a better place in her life. Tbh, life is too short to deal with toxic people. I do realise that not everyone has the luxury to walk away. I just hope that most eventually can do so.
