when I think about it: there is no still existing and alive happy couple in whole novel. For old generation all are: both dead/ one partner is dead/ did not end together. It doesn't look promissing for our chracters ;)
If they condense plot in later arcs it should be full story. Novel is long but some chapters describe duels in a lot of details that on screen takes seconds. I am looking forward to the capitol's scheming part, I almost regret reading novel first.

From what I remember it is mentioned in one of side stories Blind Tomb: "His eyes were very dark. Frighteningly dark if I was being honest with myself. The layers of tissue around his eyes had completely disappeared, leaving behind a darkness like that of another world" (merebear's translations). Then he jokes that those are contact lences but later it is suggested that it is better not to look too deaply into his eyes. I don't think it was explained enywhere else more, at least in translated parts.
The issue for me is that they kept cases (btw I liked how they adjusted first two to new environment) but they failed to make the MLs distinguish enough in the way that the originals were. Hastings was a bit bland always but Poirot is very "special people" that you would never forget. I can still accept it (because I like actor, bias, I know) but I am even more afraid of FL. Miss Marple speciality was this element of surprise coming from home learned person/society analyze's application that nobody would expect from innocent looking old lady, telling stories about her old servants.
