Does it have a happy ending ? And is it really romantic ? Thank you
I would call it an open ending. Some would say it’s a crappy ending. Yes, there is romance but more towards sweet & cute, definitely not the cheesy ones lol.
I BINGE WATCHED LIKE CRAZY ALREADY AT EP 30. Now I am concerned because eventually I’ll need to wait for new eps to release. Oh the torture I can’t even.
I don't feel the continuity from S1. Why bother naming this S2 when everything is just so different?! The female lead did a pretty good job as Tian Jing Zhi but the male lead gives a totally different vibe he just doesn't act like Xue mutant.
I put this show on-hold many times but didn't want to drop it because I want to appreciate the lead cast efforts. Too draggy, this whole show could have finished in 25 episodes.
Nothing extraordinary about the plot but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s rare to see consorts hanging out & have fun. The female lead is lovable & joyful to watch. I love the colour palette used here especially on the costumes & palace settings.
If you’re thinking - is this worth watching? Well, there are times when you just crave for a historical, but a short one without heavy political affairs, sweet & simple with some fluffy romance & a touch of time-travel essence, liking the height difference between the leads that makes you wheeze, then this is a good option to binge watch over a weekend.
I’m usually not into bubbly cutesy romance youth C-dramas. But because of her, I’m gonna watch Fox Summer, Mr Mermaid & Whirlwind girl. She is just so refreshing to watch!
It’s okay to have flashbacks but NOT okay to repeat flashbacks. What’s worst: repeat the flashbacks not once but TWICE of a scene that just took place in the SAME episode.
I come from quite a traditional Chinese business family & my parents generation is still practicing patriarchy where pretty much everything is dominated & inherited by the legitimate male lineage. Because of this, I hated brother who is my only sibling very much. I hated grandma for siding father, brother & male cousins all the time. I hated parents for asking me to stop schooling when I was 12. I despised mother for being okay while father keeps mistress outside. And many other funny matters because ‘I am a girl’.
The family dining table scene where Ming Lan threw her chopsticks when 4th sister knelt down, the expression was damn on point. I don't depend on family to survive but in order to maintain ‘family’s reputation’, filial piety plays a huge part so I could definitely relate to many scenes.
If you’re interested in traditional Chinese family culture, yes, watch this drama.
The story is meh. Lack of chemistry between the leads. My first time watching Bextiyar so I cant compare, her acting is really woody in this role . Theme songs are so-so. The only thing that saved the show is Han Dong Jun & Joe Cheng’s visuals. Even with that I couldn’t finish the series.
keywords picked up from comments: great chemistry, fluffy, cheesy, cringy, childish, cheesy.
*ADDS TO PTW LIST INTENSELY*
