That drama is rated 18+. Now that's interesting. I'll give it a try when I have time.
He always end up on my screen whether intended or not; but those that I've seen of him are either I like the main characters, so he didn't get my attention or the plot was bad/slow so I dropped.

I'm actually glad I didn't watch the trailer before jumping in. The trailer is too good, so far this is decent in comparison. 😅 (But still good). I fear the angst and interesting part might be in the last third or even fourth. That would be a let down, so I'm keep expectation low and enjoy the ride. We're almost halfway through already.

She's not really overstepping. She's correcting him. He was about to go into interrogation mode. She's stopping him so the villager doesn't feel intimidated.

Another reason for Hong Ye to have little screen time is because he is serving more as a love interest and not the plot driver. A story where two leads are equally needed to drive the plot will know how to utilized both characters. This one doesn't seem to have that.
On The Unclouded Soul Dec 31, 2025
Commander Ji can make a situation frustrating but at the same time he has been bringing a much more interesting character out of Bing Zhu which neither of the two main leads have. And I think this work because he is the second male lead. Having someone like that with the male or female lead would be extra annoying.

I hope both of these arcs will serve a point because I hate wasted arc. The story has already started to lose progression. The pacing was great until episode 11 or so. Minus the romance. The writer is also the director and it seemed this is his first official romance script so romance development isn't his strongest suit. We can only accept what's given.

A lot of people complained about the same thing, so I'll leave this here.
Hong Ye having little screen time is a pattern in Cdrama. If the plot doesn't require for the two main leads to stick together, one of them is likely missing for a majority part of the story. Just a heads up for when watching cdrama next time. Even some first billing can still have little appearances because they are a bigger name and not the central main character.
It can be very annoying for anyone who watched a drama for certain actor/actress only.
Therefore it'll be better to keep expectation low.

It's romance like this that stopped me in track. It makes it hard to continue watching. And I want to continue…
Your comment doesn't make sense until I saw the updated comment.
Since I just saw your updated comment just now, I'll say. The world is changing. People who used to watch drama are now getting older. The industry must evolve to stay up to date with time. Hence there are haters who called this plot "old fashioned," but what can you do, it's at least half true. The thing is now, can the story bring out something new, something different, something that pull heartstrings.
A drama doesn't have to be hollywood to be good. Hollywood has their own plot holes too. And even stories with plot holes can still be good. It's just that this drama relies heavily on romance to tell its story, therefore romance should be one of its main focus. The writer or director may have forgotten that.

Yes, I am aware, but that shouldn't mean you should attack anyone randomly. I could be watching for an actor or actress here and you may never know. But that doesn't stop me from saying a particular part of the script is bad when it is. Also I'm not the only one who said that. I'm sure fans of the actors and actresses saw it too, but still watch to support anyway.

I got to ep6 and I agree with multiple previous comments on the romance. This drama is 40 episodes, they could have spent time developing their falling in love phase; but they didn't. Throughout those time she's in the valley, she kept wanting to runaway. After getting out of the valley, they rarely interact. No where in there is the falling. Even if it is not love yet, at least be genuine attachment/affection.
I watched too many drama, maybe also because I got older, I got pickier with my romance.

Title Love Song for Illusion Spoiler
The writer want to dramatized this but can't do it properly. Using line like "we're never meant to be", when the angst isn't there, leaves no impact. This dude barely, or never, did anything wrong to her. There was almost no real conflict that will keep them apart. A line like that means they were doomed from the start. Sajo Hyun was never bad, nor was Akhee.

In the original Akhee was bad. They handed all Akhee's bad doing to the king leaving no angst left for Sajo Hyun and Yeon Wol. The king also wasn't in the main original story hence why the transition in the drama felt so out of place. You have this woman out for revenge and then the person she came for died even before you hit halfway, where do you go next? There's nothing else for her to do.

The writer can't even write obsessed character properly and calling Akhee obsessed. *eye-rolled* Akhee even had his own second lead arc, giving up on her, before deciding that he wants her for himself (and that was at the very, very end). Calling him obsessed when all their time together, after deciding to give up on her, was him helping her and Sajo Hyun. smh.

And the chemistry. It is there, it is not. Maybe two actors with amazing chemistry will be able to pull this off, but when two actors barely does, a better written romance would help the delivery. Sajo Hyun and Yeon Wol barely had romance development and jumped straight into "I need you there for me". Like, please give them more time together, let their feelings and trust build up slowly for a better romance pay off. They wasted like 6 episodes on "I don't like her", "she's Akhee's woman", then all of a sudden "I need you"? I assumed this is supposed to be a romance-heavy story, but I felt the political intrigue took a larger chunk of the story. In the middle, Yeon Wol's character importance got reduced down to doing chores. She's supposed to be a badass.

It felt like Akhee spent more time with her. There are times when I felt Sajo Hyun doesn't even care or love her as much. If they sell Akhee and Yeon Wol's love story, I think I might take it. Might. Both characters are flawed.

This is harsh, but this writer might need to stop writing. At the very least, take some time to refine her writing. Maybe the director should take a portion of the fault as he can choose to film it differently. Also the production company. They might want to make Sajo Hyun and Akhee less evil but they ended up leaving nothing for them.

Not one to hate the second male lead, but I can't defend him this episode. He's starting to cross the line in the name of a friend and fake husband. I'm assuming his feeling for her has recently develop because he got married and have a kid. If his crush started years ago, then that's the extent of his love for her.
He said he fear losing a friend and also said seeing her with another man made him realized he likes her.... Almost can't help but feel that he is similar to female lead's friend from Business Proposal. I was almost in the friend-to-lover ship but dude has a gf and only want her single with him and not be in a relationship with her. That's a no.
Seonwu only want to pursue Darim because Jihyeok is now in the picture. I'm sorry, you lost your chance. Biggest key point, she's not in love with you.

And Jihyeok, he is the highlight of today's episode (yesterday).
Oddly, when I caught up with a drama, the new episode are always a slight downgrade that make me want to drop. Luckily that was saved by the end of the episode. I love how they aren't downplaying the "cheating". It wasn't just surface level (that may be overlooked by some viewers), but it's also from within eating at him and they showed that to us. I love internal conflict and angst.
Jihyeok wanting to get marry comes in no surprise. He have said "Don't cross the line" "Even in a loveless marriage, cheating isn't allow".
He decided to put a wedge between him and cheating. Can't help but say brilliant. Character consistency. Moral and ethics>>>>

Up until now, we have been seeing only Jihyeok's side of being in love and jealous. We need to see Darim's side too. If they continue this route, it will make (some) viewers think she's not in love, or as in love, which isn't true. She is swayed. She is in love. We just need to see more. A story I love is a story that showed both side.

Late to the party. A must watch. Can't bring myself to watch a lot of drama nowadays so I went back to my to-watch list and watched this; because I remember this was said to be unexpectedly good. It has its own flaws, but still enjoyed the whole ride. Has a bit of the 2000-ish kdrama vibe/troupe, noble idiocy without being noble idiocy, where one character turned cold to another, but still remaining good (because it didn't last long). I think the bonus are the two main characters being acted by mature actors and having chemistry. I typically say I don't feel chemistry between many Korean actors but these two are definitely the few who I do.

I kept rewinding the last 5 minutes. This is one of those drama that I want more happy moments with the leads together. One where viewers know it won't be followed by separation.

Also one of those drama I can re-watch right after I finished watching and want to recommend to others.

writer of radio romance and kiss sixth sense. let's keep expectation low.
Radio Romance was a you like it or you hate it. Kiss Sixth Sense was an adaptation. People seemed to like it but a lot expressed their disappointment about the ending. To sum up, the writer doesn't have a long resume nor a good enough script to tell how this will turn out.

We can only hope.
The production that produced Impossible Heir only has two that I heard of and watched, Crazy Love and Undercover High School, the other flew under my radar.
As for the production that produced ddsslls, it's a "they better no mess up the ending".
I also have hope on Choi Sungeun's choice as she doesn't take many drama. The two she took are good so far.

guys if they release bluray, will there be cut/deleted scenes?
Idk if all bluray boxset include deleted scenes as there are a lot of content. They cant fit everything into what's planned but some bluray include a few. I think the production does try to listen and give the fans some things they want. All this will first have to rely on whether their are enough demand (pre-orders).

I'm assuming you're up to ep3.

Idk if you are paying attention, but the "kidnapper" aka Hong Heejoo can continue to make crazy demand because she knows he doesn't want his secret out in the open, she uses herself (pic), then the bomb explosion (she didn't do it but act like she/they did).
What she doesn't know is that he is unwilling to divorce her.
Only the real kidnapper uses kidnapping as a way to demand a ransom from him. Heejoo resort to something different.
