I don't think Chat is into Chan. Even after he decided to leave Bangkok, he only apologized for causing her trouble…
The analogy is quite spot on, but I just didn't like how she put Chan down because she's poor and have fewer choices. It's like what Khunpra said at the beginning, people likes to put another person down to make them look good.
I'm watching through the episode and saying it's too short. It seems some scenes got deleted due to duration restrictions. How to watch the uncut version? :( Khunpra's imagination in ep 6, they were supposed to kiss. Khunpra and Chan should have a tiny scene during the funeral in ep5 (from bts picture). What else got deleted this episode? *sigh* With these cuts, the drama seems to jump from one scene to another. It's not as smooth. Some details felt left out.
Would you agree with this? https://vt.tiktok.com/ZS2EVK2he/
Nope! Not true at all. Everyone can see it clearly that Khunpra is into Anong. He knows that. He held back because his brother is into her. During the scene when he was testing out the pen, he almost wrote Anong, but caught himself. I don't know which sub version you watched but the sub I watched did not have that subbed. He wrote "An" then changed it to "Chan".
Anong and Khunpra have their first argument. The other side of Anong's personality is starting to show. We saw a glimpse of that last episode with her sarcasm towards Khunpra and putting down Chan (which I'd say I did not like). First Anong want to make Chan jealous of her and Chat but failed. Now she want to use Chan to get Chat so Khunpra will end up alone. This girl. She said she will take out the gut of his future crush so he can't fall in love with her. Girl, you are already doing it. It's you. But he's still into you. Chat is into Chan already? That's too quick. Give me more detail. Where? When? How? He just got his heart broken. I need a bit more build up for them.
I've been seeing people say novel Khunpra is 36. Anong is 23, so there's a 13 years age gap. Khunpra is said to be in his 30s but look like he's in his late 20s.
Right now everyone want Wichai to make a move, including me. That ending with Wichai not catching on was frustrating. I hope by the time she said it is him (who upset her), he knows what she meant. Hopefully he walked out because he's caught in between making it hard for him to react. Though, we must admit the main reason why she broke down was knowing that he's interested in someone else, which is not true at all. It's a misunderstanding.
If nothing went wrong during the party and Anong confessed, I have a feeling that Wichai might reject her because accepting will break him and Chat. It's a complicated situation. The only way for him to say yes to her is for Chat to be out of the picture. We may have to wait until Chat and Chan get together, which idk when that will happen.
Chat and Chan got married is what opened the door for Anong to court Wichai in the novel. The producer said they followed the novel. *biting my nails rn*
I love my lady chasing her man. Go for it girl!Someone said there wasn't any romance in the novel. As this is…
Things I know from the novel: -Anong pursue Wichai towards the end. -- She's pursuing him right now! So glad they changed that. -Wichai actually was interest in Jan at first. Wicha only start liking Anong after she pursue him. -- So typical Thai "love" story. Romance is the last 5 min. So, so glad they changed that. -Wichai is the unloved son. His room got taken or the things in his room got taken. -- The drama touches a bit on this but not as vivid as the novel. One scene Wichai asked where some of his furniture went and his mom said Chut is using them. He was sadden by it. :( -I don't think Wichai was married in the novel. I don't remember anyone saying anything about him being a widow nor was it mentioned in half of the chapter that I listened to. (I gave up because it was in old Thai. With my basic Thai, I don't understand half the stuff and it turned out Thai people also have a hard time understanding.)
Someone said there wasn't any romance in the novel. As this is based on an old novel, the focus is more on character than a love story. I'm glad they made lots of changes. I wonder how much of the actual novel got adapted.
Season 2 covered only 100 chapters. But they picked some arcs here and there and make other arcs unknown in the…
I'm sure the 40 episodes constraint is what affected their initial plan. The drama was filmed in 2018 and the limitation was implemented in 2020 or so. If they increase the number of seasons now, then lots of actors will be tied down to the drama, especially the main beloved cast that we don't want replaced. Knowing there's over 300 chapters left, I wouldn't mind 4-5 seasons but that's a big commitment for actors. I can only hope the screenwriter write a good final season that doesn't exclude the good part and still make the story make sense.
The "doesn't belong in this era" and knowing the actual plot is time travel back already made me say the original make more sense (it's the original anw). The idea that this is the far future is too big of an idea that doesn't totally fit into this plot, but it is what it is. I like it but doesn't make too much sense; so I will leave it at that for now.
As long as it make sense and as a viewer I don't question how the heck that happened, then I call it good. Fan Xian losing his zhenqi, I also think they should have spent more time on that. How he gain it back, I'll leave that for s3 to explain. If it doesn't, then I'll take it like any other story where the mc magically gain their power back. As long as it is not like Destined that make me question how ml end up as general when he has zero military experience. So in comparison, JOL2 is 10x better already.
Without the unnecessary scenes the drama would have been around 30-32 episodes. They could have squeezed in some details and intensify some plot, or they could have even maxed out this season at 40. Not sure why they didn't. I'll leave as is since IDK the plot content. If I do, I might have complained too. No intention to do that until s3 end.
what's the significance of fan xian worshipping the ancestors of the Fans in the ancestral hall?
It mean he will be a part of the Fan's family. Being "illegitimate" means he is not an official family member. Knowing that he is actually the emperor's illegitimate son, they are shock he want to be a part of the Fans instead of the royal. Thus Fan Jian is happy Fan Xian chose to stay as a Fan.
Someone said they have covered over 300 chapters (in 82 episodes) but there's still another 300+ chapters to cover for season 3 (30-40 episodes). How are they going to do that. It seems many chapters are going to be cut. Can only hope the writer make a good comeback for its final season.
In terms of story, s1 seems to cover more ground (even if we only consider only the first 33-34 episodes) and introduced more interesting characters. S2 is more about Fan Xian's growth as a character. I really like Fan Xian in s1, but I love Fan Xian in s2. He became more complex. S1 Fan Xian is more passive (idle and enjoy life). S2 Fan Xian is more action-taker (fight for justice and clean up corruption). But in terms of story, s2 seems to have fewer arcs or at least less things happened. The number of episodes doesn't matter because the first 33-34 of s1 is the most interesting (quite a lot of things happened). Northern Qi arc is the least interesting.
Looking forward for s3. I hope it won't be too long of a wait. Someone said the writer said he haven't even started writing??? Well I hope he get to it soon. He received quite some criticism so I hope he take those criticism to improve s3, especially with Waner's participation in the story. She's more of a supporting despite being second in listing. Can it be said male writer can't write female character well?
I see some people complaining about the lack of action scenes, but this drama never promotes itself as a wuxia (martial arts). While on the action scene topic, I want to say Wuzhu, as a cyborg, have the best action scene in both season. The arrow shooting (s1) and fighting while dodging the arrows (s2).
Old news said s2 and 3 supposed to have 30 eps each and 2 came out with 36. I don't mind 40 for s3 if needed as long as pacing is good and interesting arcs don't get cut.
Feeling conflicted after watching this drama. I don't know if I want to hate this drama or love this drama.Viki…
They made so many changes to the story, why not just change the whole latter story by cutting the last three episodes (viki ver). I would have loved if it ended on a happy note. Pei Shangxuan and Li Li were too cute together and went through a lot. They deserve a happy ending. That leukemia and noble idiocy plot ruined the last three episodes.
The good parts: A big chunk of this story is good. Posts below said I should thank the production team for giving Li Li and Pei Shangxuan sweet moments which may not exist in the novel. It's a happy open ended story. She's back, still alive after a month, but will she return to him or will he let her remain a "migratory bird" remains unknown.
Plot holes/the bad parts: The whole 2016 plot. It is not in the novel and is not in line with the plot and characters the story has built for the past 19eps. As said the leukemia and noble idiocy plot. Another is the misunderstanding Li Li had about "that night".
Feeling conflicted after watching this drama. I don't know if I want to hate this drama or love this drama. Viki have the better version (22 episodes) ; no unnecessary flash black for a whole final episode (tv 24 episodes).
They "stole" two songs from the original. They didn't just remake the drama but also its ost. Shapolang (Kill the Wolf) did not live up to its original (the original is too good. You can't beat that) but Carefree Lamentation tug my heart string and give me nostalgia. It is convincing me to give this a shot to see how it turned out.
Surprisingly, its douban rating is higher than the other two Sword and Fairy series that aired this year. I remember seeing comments like "who the heck are these actors?" But it still received a passing grade. Though it also received 4-6 times less viewers/attention than the other two.
--edit 1-- The intro showed a scene from CP1, so I thought they will remake the drama instead of adapting from the game. It seemed they are trying to get the best of both world. They patched up one plot hole from the drama by taking the detail from the game. I love that. I love CP1, but I admit it has plot holes. I hope this one patch up those holes and at least be entertaining. 34 episodes is already plenty, so 40 has me a bit concern.
--edit 2-- I love how this Xiaoyao is not every women's man. In terms of acting... I'll overlook that :/ .
The color grading is also much much better than the other 2 SAF series. Making me question if this one has a better production quality.
I love the attention to plot detail. This is only the beginning, so I hope I don't get overly excited and get shot down later.
I actually like that long shot. Pretty sure it was a directional choice to do a long shot & to have the atmosphere…
The long shot must have not done it job with everyone then. It was questionable as the shot last quite a long time. EW does show good emotion with that close up shot afterward which is why I wondered why not do a few closer shot.
The main actress is more than 20 years older than CEW. I don't think it should. As for a supporting actress who is 1 year older, the male lead's character doesn't seem to show any interest in her. With that said, I'd say expect no romance.
It seems some scenes got deleted due to duration restrictions. How to watch the uncut version? :(

Stuck on Pei Shangxuan and Li Li.
