You are right. Mengli will fall for Tianhe (according to the game). Ziying doesn't have any love interest in the game (he does have an admirer, Xuanji). Though there will probably be shipper of Ziying and Lingsha based on their interactions. There's barely romance in the game, fyi.

Some prev cmmts said Mengli and Ziying give off 2nd cp vibe. I watched the episodes (7-8) and feel none. (Haven't watched the two new ep.)

The production adapted a few bgm from the game (intro included). Thus if you see some c-nets cmmts criticizing the drama, they tend to compliment/exclude the bgm. Something like "at least there's the bgm" or something like that.

I mentioned this before the drama aired. The game have no time skip until the very end. But the drama seems to add a time skip in between. Events in the game happened within half a year, iirc.
With costume drama, only actors with good pronunciation (dialect) get to dub themselves.
If you notice, CZY always dubbed himself in modern drama but never costume drama.

From what I know, it has to do with dialect. All costume dramas are dubbed because modern day have so many dialect. Back in historical days, everyone have the same dialect.

Correction: Lingsha have never use the wangshu sword in the game. The sword chose her as the host, but it has always been Tianhe who used it. Thus he feels bad about it when he found out. If the drama doesn't change, you will find out why he feel bad. So far, the drama has been following the game pretty closely. However, it does seem like there will be some major changes later i.e. a few months (in game) turn into years (in drama).

To your last question, if they go by the game, no, if they make changes then possibly. But it's more reasonable for him not to. He doesn't have big desire or ambition.

I think this one and Xu Kai's were filmed around the same time (2022). This one started and finished first half of the year and Xu Kai's started and finish 2nd half.

It is not about who gets paid more anymore. It has been two years. I'm sure they got their pay already. It is about whose name comes up first on the cast list.

Not just the billing issue. The title of this drama is also inconsistent. It was planned to be called "The Legend of Tianhe" (since 2016). During the whole filming, staff wore shirts that said, "The Legend of Sword and Fairy 4". The drama got licensed and noted that the title will be changed to "The Legend of Tianhe". The drama finally airs as "Sword and Fairy 4".
They did not even clarify how the contracts were signed. I assumed they signed him up as equal since he is the centric character while they signed her up as first billing because she’s the bigger star. What a problematic production.

Anyway, at least it is airing.

Seems like China tend to ban anything too popular. There's rumor that said all BL adaptations are ban and will never be release. Then there's rumor that it can air if they remove all signs of BL from the story. BL is not 'bromance' (close relationship btwn 2 men/besties) but 'boy love' (romance between two men). Of course, there will be no kissing though.

We can only hope it airs before the license expires in May. If not, then it will have to go through another reviewing session.

It haven't even gotten its distribution license yet. Maybe it will next month or so and possibly air during the summer.

Fun fact (fun?): CP2 got skipped because it was said to have a weak plot; but then they adapted CP5 which was said to be one of the worst games in the series. Ironically, they skipped CP4 which was said to be one of the best games of the series. Now that CP4 got adapted, it ran into billing issue and no official announcement to date. CP1 and CP3 adaptations still remain classic.

Of all the series, CP4 took place the earliest in the timeline.
There seems to be some changes to the original story. Main plot of the game took place within less than half a year, IIRC. From the bts pictures, Tianhe went from short hair (mid-length) to long hair. There most likely be a time skip. The only time skipped in the game is the finale.

CP6 does have the upper hand. They got two known cast as leads (traffic stars? or close to), opened reservation for the drama, released poster, stills, and a trailer. The drama was slated for 36eps. It got licensed for 36eps. CP4 was planned for 50 then to 48 or 40 and got cut down to 36eps. 40+ eps is too long (even 30eps can drag); but what got cut and how much got cut? Will it affect the story? That can be a bit concerning.
