Tianhe and Lingsha really makes me annoyed and angry.. None of them acknowledge existance and important of ZIying…
Idk if you’re mad because the friendship you want isn’t going the way you want or you have a ship that won’t sail or your favorite character’s need is being neglected by those two characters, but regarding Tianhe and Lingsha’s relationship, it has become a question mark the moment they added Demon pig and little demon pig into the story. I didn’t want to nitpick too much because I know there’s tons of fans who will get offended and attack whoever commented against it to defend the drama or character(s).
Tianhe grew up under Demon Pig’s watch. When Demon Pig died and little demon pig ran away, Tianhe got over it fast! Then the drama proceeds to throw in all the clichés-ness and say Lingsha is the most important person to him. She’s the first friend he ever made. --- Didn’t his father teach him humans and demons are equal? If he doesn’t consider them his friend, doesn’t that mean he has some discrimination in his mind? ---- When they have to leave Lingsha behind, he refused. Can be said he almost made a big deal out of it. If they had gone with the original where Tianhe is a boy living all alone at the mountain top and came upon Lingsha, the first human he ever met and communicated with after his father has passed, I’d believe it. The writer also made Tianhe too focused, protective, and almost obsessed over Lingsha. It got my eyes rolling a bit too. Thus, I did say this drama is best to watch with your mind turned off or else skip through and watch only the character(s) you want to watch.

Can be said Li Xiaoyao also constantly chase after Ling'er too. But that one will remain a classic no matter what. If I compared to some of the newer and better stories, it won't be as good; but will definitely remain as my first cdrama. So far, this one does seems to lack that character development and at time is questionable.

I was a fan of chinese paladin 2 - 2005 ( liu yifei and hu ge couple - still love their love story ) and chinese…
Doing a bit of police work here. It's just Chinese Paladin for the 2005 adaptation or you can call it Chinese Paladin 1. There's no 2 yet. I read they are currently at the casting stage. They skipped 2 because the plot isn't strong. Now they are adapting it, goes to say cdramas are running out of ideas. In a way, it is kind of ironic how Chinese Paladin 1 is considered the start of xianxia drama where the centric character is the male lead but over the years, xianxia becomes more of a female lead centric genre whereas wuxia remains a male lead centric genre.
However, all Sword and Fairy series are male lead centric so far, from what I know.

Title Sword and Fairy 4 Spoiler
I would first like to ask, do you want answer that is lowkey spoiler but not really? If yes, read spoiler.
And I like to see people die of curiosity lol. I left for too long, did anyone spoil it? I'll drop these questions as hints:
It has been mentioned Tianqing is an outlier.
What did Tianqing teach Tianhe? or What does Ziying want to kill and Tianhe want to protect? (It's in one of the earlier episodes (ep 2 or 3, I think.)
That tiny part of Ziying's mentality came from Qionghua Sect. Tianqing disagree with it. Same goes for Su Yu.

I'm surprised they didn't emphasize that in the drama for Ziying. Personally, that made Ziying's character development the best in the game. They made him too stone and perfect in the drama, so idk how impactful that will be when it comes.

Anyway, seems like Su Yu is most likely going to be in love with Tianqing in the drama. That's a good change.

LOL does everyone just want to know the whole story and not want to watch how the story unfolds? But no, that theory is wrong. The mess 19 years ago has nothing to do with love-triangle/trapezoid/square. Su Yu probably decided to settle down with the man who loves her and share the same views as her rather than the one she loves but has opposing views.
Are they sisters? I don’t remember this, but I don’t think so.

The game also had me thinking the same, but no Tianhe is truly Yun Tianqing's son. I think Suyao had pointed out already that he doesn't look like his father but has the eyebrows and mentality his father has.

This post explained why he has both yin and yang, which is really helpful because I don't remember this getting mentioned in the game.
⚠️Also caution, the thread's cmmt section discussed about other topics which can also be spoilers.

Your third point. Yes, this will hurt. Suyu doesn't really love Tianqing. She named her son after her ex-lover's favorite hobby, ig you can call that.

Extra note: Tianhe comes from amazonite, but Tianhe also mean milky way.

If you're interest in reading more about dubbing in C-drama:https://kisskh.at/article/dubbing-in-chinese-dramas-how-did-i-come-to-love-itI…
Yes, it has nothing to do with how well a voice suits the character. Despite some people not liking Esther Yu's voice, she dubbed herself for all but one drama. There's also Bai Jingting who dubbed all but one. It seemed Zhao Lusi started out getting dubbed in costume drama, but in recent years she started dubbing herself.
I am also more accustomed to kdrama.

Qionghua sect has hair extension! Lmao. Turns out there's no time skip. It was just character design inconsistency. Tianhe's father also has his hair in a ponytail and isn't as long as everyone else. They should have kept Tianhe's hair the same. Anyway, turning off your brain is the best way to enjoy this drama.

The two new episodes are much slower and more refreshing after so many unnecessary fights in the previous episodes.

Correction: Lingsha have never use the wangshu sword in the game. The sword chose her as the host, but it has…
Well, they're only following the game's plot. There's a reason why she didn't get to use it or that she can't use it. If she were to use it, then major changes have to be done to the plot. Like I said, there's a chance it might even derail from the original later.

I think the billing issue happened after the drama finished filming. From what I got, the issue first started…
Yes it has been so long. I think the production have no interest in resolving this issue. If no one take legal measure, it will be left as is.

It is adaptation of old Video game. Plot and writing are definitely something came from 20 years ago. But It is…
Adapting from a game isn't the issue. To me, it's the script that's the issue. Main leads constantly throwing up blood is something that can be avoided. I don't watch a lot of cdrama but I don't remember seeing any leads throw up blood as often as this one. Of all the Sword and Fairy adaptations, I've only seen CP1 back in like 2006 which I thought was pretty good. That male lead and all the other main characters did not get injured as often which is why the issue isn't the game and its plot but the script writers not doing their job properly.

Regarding CGI, definitely. I think anyone who want to watch xianxia cdrama have to accept that they won't get any good CGI unless it's a movie like Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity. Their CGI is awesome. I've seen a bit of TTEOTM's CGI, and I also said that is really good. Planned to watch it sometime this year. Though my friend (a fan of Bai Lu) said it was bad/confusing, so she dropped it.

Actor who's passionate and invested in their work is always respected by me.

ComplaintsWith such a big budget why can't they hire better script writers, CGI, editors, and possibly even director?…
From a plot-to-plot base, the drama follows the game pretty closely, not precisely. They rearranged a side-quest/dungeon big boss. It actually makes more sense in the drama. (+1pt)

From the cmmnts, some people like ep 8, but I think that is one of the weakest written. Lady turned out dead. Then how did she interact with people (when the guard said "that's enough" and she said "I said I will come every day") and even carry the qin away (ep7). The new wife even saw her like she's a real human. The qin was left by her husband's coffin at the end hence it is real. Qinji said she can't enter because the monk did something. The next thing we see is them all walking into the place without any problem.

How it could have been done: They could have shown us how they were able to enter the place with Qinji. Then revealed later that the reason she cannot enter the place is because she’s already dead. Mengli, who knew that Qinji was dead, took down the spell or object that prevents ghosts from entering which allow Qinji to enter. She thought people were talking to her, but they were actually talking to someone else. Mengli, Tianhe, and Lingsha can see her because they aren’t normal people without ability. --- In the game, she isn't dead. She can’t enter because there are monks guarding the place.

I'm kind of sad that they took away the “meng” ability from Mengli. Meng means dream. Mengli has the ability to go into dreams and even manipulate them, iirc. In the arc that just passed, Mengli can’t do much because the dude is too strong (in the game).

They give one of her abilities to Tianhe, which I'm not too upset about. After knowing how the game goes, I even wondered why they initially planned the drama as “The Legend of Tianhe”. It is because they make Tianhe stronger in the drama than the in game.
CZY seems to have said he hoped Tianhe will maintain his innocence(?) 'til the end (I think he said this during the opening ceremony). However, right from the get-go (about 4eps), drama Tianhe is already not align with game Tianhe. All I can say is they might make changes now so they can change the later part of the story.

In the game, Ziying started with little screen time. He only joined the squad after 1/4 of the way. In the drama, Ziying constantly shows up in front of our leads and even welcomes them to join him. Not a bad thing. Main characters should have more screen time in live adaption. Their future journeys are most likely going to change though.

The drama has too many bad guys swirling around Tianhe (for the sword). Seems like they encountered a villain at every turn, hence the leads are constantly hurt. (I do not like this at all. Personally, this is one of its biggest weaknesses. Ep1 sucks real bad. It was kiddish. But alright, get pass that and it was ok. But the constant fight and injured in every episode it too much. It can’t be excused because it happens in every episode.)

You can have conflict without a physical fight and main leads constantly getting injured. Does Ms and Mr writer know that?

Complaints
With such a big budget why can't they hire better script writers, CGI, editors, and possibly even director? The combination of all the skills of this production = 8.0 as highest MDL rating and 7.5 as lowest MDL rating.
Reasons: The amount of time the leads got hurt is absurd. Seriously. If they keep this up, I might drop this soon. I can excuse the CGI. The flying pig is the worst it had (but considering the budget it has, seriously??? Makes me wonder how big of a budget each drama has). Coloring. The blue filter got to go. The drama’s color looks dead and dull. Almost felt like I’m watching drama from the 2000s (except there’s no blue filter in 2000s). The director could have done a better job with the cinematography. Maybe the color tone would have turned out better. It is also the director’s job to bring the script to life and make changes if he/she doesn’t like what’s written. What’s bringing this drama down is mainly its script. It seems as if it was written for kids, especially ep1. It was supposed to pull viewers in, but it drives viewers away.
Compare and contrast with game/flaws, etc (in spoiler):

I watched an un-dubbed clip of this drama and can't help but agree more with ivybis and Bai Ying Hua from the comment section. Voice is a part of acting. In that clip, CZY, JJY, and MXH were simply reciting their lines without any emotion. In a way, dubbing over allows actors to be lazy at line delivery and not fully immerse into their character.
