im sure i'll have no complaints if i read the novel but i guess my issue is that the drama itself should be a standalone ... so the fact that it's failing to show me and instead making me seek outside sources as additional reference is a bit ... not great lol

not to be a killjoy but while i loved ZY since her WOH days, i don't think she's able to fully show off she can fight in those battle scenes ... and it has nothing to do with her build bc i've seen actresses with similar build do it. when she fights, i'm not convinced that she can actually beat any of her opponents bc it looks like she has very little power behind it. maybe it has to do with the special effects they like to put in the fight scenes? like the speeding up/slowing down? idk.
Girl they cut that drama from 40 to 36. Mingde scandal had editors cutting scenes.
i understand their constrictions but imo using this as an excuse is rly poor bc the audience cannot be expected to know what goes on behind the scenes, just what’s aired. i also don’t believe that it’s solely on him bc they’ve also not shown fighting scenes throughout the drama. i feel like this is just the plot direction they want to go in tbh. i don’t blame the actors but the script.
ok my main gripe about this is how the title of this drama is extremely deceiving - i feel at least 80% of this drama is based on romance whereas i would have LOVED to see more fight scenes and more of her background as a general or the lead up to her being a general in the past. they need to stop telling me how good of a general/soldier she is and actually start showing it.

i know!! it's one of the things i love the most about RL, like i'm just watching a regular cdrama with a super loving couple which imo is how it should be for most BLs. i don't need NC scenes to feel emotionally satisfied but i need those scenes of their everyday life that shows how much they care for and love each other lol.
