Does He Si Mu have an obsession? If so, what is it?

Right? I find him really hot in the Evil Spirit getup and he has chemistry with the Jiang Ai/Zhang Li.

I wanted to comment on chemistry as well. I feel that chemistry is subjective, except when its absolutely, mindbogglingly extreme. Which is very rare... otherwise it's a thing you feel or you don't feel, and you can't explain it either. And it's not obvious things either. The touch of little fingers can be infused with chemistry, as can a makeout session. And here, I think the chemistry is medium strong... and therefor it makes no real sense to try and talk others in seeing or not seeing the chemistry in this couple... or any couple.

I gotta say, the comical-creepy nature of spirits, their unruly and hungry looks, the way their clothes don't match because each is wearing their obsession as a costume, the way they all take this for granted about each other, is great. I love the creepy carnival athmosphere of the ghost court.

Yan Ke is kind of hot as an evil spirit but I am surprised the actor is actually someone who plays main roles. I thought he does not have the standard ML face... I don't mean as a dig. He looks real, which is a good thing. I guess I'm going to check his work out

I tend to agree, there is a gap in his character. He is 19 btw. But anyway: He definitely has been characterised as crazed assassin and innocent youth... which kind of a huge gap inbetween. I also wish they had stuck to one characterisation

I like how until now they are sticking to what it means for a mortal to love a spirit. They don't reduce her to "just a girl" or forget what it means to live for centuries, or for that matter, what it means to be mortal

I find it amusing that for Duan Xu, this spirit love affair is a serious thing but He Si Mu's attendants just take it for granted that he is one of their queen's many dalliances.

I know the show doesn't mean it that way but THEY have lots of chemistry IMO.

That's a funny thought. "I may be a general, assassin and a badass in human terms, but I'll never be a mysterious tough guy to an ancient powerful spirit. May as well go all out as an adoring fanboy instead"

Episose 12 was entertaining but I wish the general would not lay it on so thick with his pining after He Si Mu. Not the actors fault but... how about a little bit of subtlety in the dialogue? Or a bit of understatement...?

Chemistry and simplistic lovey doveyness are not remotely the same thing: Chemistry is a thing that cannot be explained. You can only feel it. But also I wasn't complaining about the chemisty and I'm not yall

*sigh* Come episode 11 and I am bored. There is no tension, no question open between them. No edge with these edgy characters. Only lovy-dovyness. The hunt seems already over

I don't love the simp stuff either. Even though it's supposed to cater to women. It has to be for teens or early twenties or something, not grown up women I guess? Generally, it never appealed to me and it has become so extreme and predictable these days. Yawn-worthy

Yeah. I watch because I enjoy powerful female leads, basically. But everything is mediocre if we're being honest. Like, about 7-10 years ago, Cdrama was absolute cinema compared to now....

Yeah, you can look at it that way... But with the quality of Cdrama these days, if you look at it that way, you can basically never enjoy any Cdrama romance. You gotta add some fantasizing of your own...

Anyone else feel like he is into her BECAUSE she is a cold, dangerous, mysterious spirit lol? Even if he occssionally acts like sweet romance. Like, she is the kind of dangerous gamble he likes

Personally, I misss episode-by episode discussion. We are all here in one entry for the entire show, the older comments about the first episodes disappearing down into the past lol.

I assumed that he refused to ask for a wish because a) he knew she would save him anyway, and b) because he did not want the relationship with her to be on transactional footing... and almost a bit because he wanted to prove to her that she was incapable of letting him die.
