I think that Cdrama are going through their "girlboss" phase. These dramas tend to be written for young women and they really have been in that "girlboss" phase for the last three or more years. I also think this phase will pass eventually

Chinese second leads never are...

I feel the exact same way. I never get why Chinese dramas will spent episodes upon episodes on happy lovey dovey couples. Untarnished happiness is boring af in fiction

Episode 9 and 10.... two episodes wasted with FL in her "cutesy" persona. Ugh

I actually like it more than TTEOTM. I like that it has a less morbid atmosphere and a warmer/more human ML.

If younger actors get hurt a lot on set, I would also question the responsibility of the crew there. It's not okay to let actors get hurt for your scenes. Her interview sounds as if they were casual and irresponsible with her health, but if she were 25 that would not be okay either. Yet also, older people are more frail, if you want old people in your action scene, yes take extra caution.

She has a right to not get hurt on set. They wanted an older woman for that role, so they are responsible for ensuring her safety

This doesn't sound fine. Someone (probably the director or stunt director) neglected their responsibility to make sure actors don't get hurt. Weird that it is presented so casually.

I loved those five minutes. So moving and I respected the drama so much for saying "It would have been fine another way, as well. We could have been okay in other ways but that wasn't what happened." They didn't make the main romance the only possible happiness that could have existed and I found that so mature. And I loved how respectfully it treated the side characters as well

I agree that Secret of the Three Kingdoms is amazing. My one time all time favorite probably. That queen will live in my heart forever and so will that fake emperor.
