Piss off. Why insult me for a TV show?

Of course, the show makes it so that there is always "a reason". There always is. But the underlying attitude is one of zero respect for side characters

WTF? Male lead threatening commoners, FL whipping her own sister? Are we supposed to support that? That is villain behavior!
Edit: I think I am done with this show. The only way ML and FL ever deal with other people is highhanded: Scheming, threatening and lying

For me as well. She is great. She and the scholar are just so cute together too, and yet you are always on edge because of her sweetness and creepyness

Agreed. And I frankly don't believe the FL (or anyone of them) that they love their family. The female lead may love tea making, maybe money, maybe status, probably Wanwan, maybe the ML. But not the Rong family. All these sisters could not give an eff about the "Rong family" as a family. Any random commoners are more of a true family

I for one do find the FL kind of overbearing. And if she always took to herself all the tasks of running the business, no wonder the sisters don't know how to do it. She is half of this mess. I would easily resent her as well if I were a sister. I wonder if the show is implying this or not. I am always bored by shows that are one million percent only on the side of the lead

Edit: And I bet the FL would say "I am the only one competent and principled enough to run this show" but imagine if your own older sister thought so. No one is better at everything

So far FL and grandmother have never lost power, and a number of men have simply died lol. Oh and even the blind girl kept her agency so far

She is using him but at least she is not manipulating him. Each time she shows romantic feelings it is sincere from her side, while I feel like I can hear him thinking "Hah. One step closer, soon I will have you, my pretty."

I dislike that the male lead is apparently never actually sincere. That makes their "romance" feel like a chess match where she is the prize for him, to which he is maneuvering step by step. Each "romantic" moment I am waiting for the other shoe to drop

I gotta admit, a lot of dramas lean hard on the "sibling" part of "step sibling romance" recently, so... yeah I get the trust issues lol

I really don't think they will do romance between blood siblings. For one thing, that is not gonna pass censorship. You really needn't worry, I think

Xue You Shou is so far the best part for me. The actor gives plays him with such a superficial cheer and pained undercurrent, its really good

I was disappointed that he turned out to be just pretending. For once the FL was insane, abusive and with all the power in the relationship - only for it to turn out to be fake. That was boring.

Agree. These days, when I see a "dignified and powerful" sect, all in white in their cloud palace, I already know that these are petty and weak schemers...
