Honestly you have worded my exact feelings/opinion when I comes to FIYS and I did initially comment on this on that page as well but later realized people didn't really like constructive criticism. I decided to just be quiet and not to bother commenting on the show too much as people were personally attacking one another. I will be honest I did enjoy the show as I am reading the novel as well and the way their relationship is described this FL would have never been able to pull it off. Xu Kai is the one who carried the entire show on his shoulder if it wasn't for him this show would have failed miserably. Btw supporting cast dis a pretty good job as well.
Xu Kai owned that role and I don't think any actor can play it better than he did. They had many kissing scenes after thay got together but everytime I was uncomfortable as the FL was awkward/uncomfortable in all of them. Also for this reason I was glad they didn't follow orginal plot because their relationship was much more physical/intimate in the novel.
I will binge rewatch ALP once all the subs are released while waiting for SAHPH. (Don't want to jinx it but hope it doesn't have similar fate to the oath of love I gave up on that after waiting for such a long time)

I will take this ending any day vs them losing there child

I saw 2 episodes on Netflix though his character looks interesting I am not sure about FL in the scenes she comes she doesn't seem convincing putting it on hold for now. Let me know if it get better later.

I feel the same story for the legends could have been better but nonetheless I couldn't stop myself from watching it.
For AMA what's sad is that they actually did shot the scenes and 90 minutes of romantic scenes were cut off though not my favorite genre either but I tried watching it for the couple but had to give up.
I did started watching Court Lady the initial few episodes were hilarious and Xu Kai was amazing but later story became rather draggy and very political and his character would show up sometimes only once I had to give up on that one either.
I did enjoy FIYS but honestly I FL needs to improve her acting compared to the rest of the cast she was lacking and times had no facial expressions at all and though had lot of kissing scenes/kinship FL was awkward and uncomfortable which just didn't look good onscreen but Xu Kai played the role to the tee.
ALP where do I start i came across this one accidentally but didn't know I would enjoy it this much and you are on point to mention about his micro expression he has some expressive eyes. I could not take my eyes off from the screen when shangu/houchi stabs him I have stopped counting how many time I have rewatched that scenes but it still so good.
I have watched TMOPB drama though it's quite famous for me it's an average drama that is the only yang mi show i have seen. Hopefully SAHPH will be good.

Thanks for letting me know in advance I am not much of a reader unless I really like something. I don't want to ruin the current ending so I won't be checking out the novel. Yes he definitely is a great actor I watched him in the legends him and Bai Lu have amazing chemistry. I had to drop off Arsenal Military Academy though there acting was great but all the romantic scenes were taken out(would love to see them on screen together though he has chemistry with most of his leading ladies them onscreen is just another level). I have watched FIYS and ALP simultaneously and honestly he is just amazing in both. Waiting for she and her perfect husband saw the trailer and loved it (though not a big fan of FL but trailer looks pretty good). Hope to see him in more modern dramas (hopefully one with bai lu) :)

I saw some comments that there are 2 additional books that covers their son's story and YM and Tianqi's story. I wonder if they will cover some of there story in those books. I would love to have a second season but a special episode will do. But unfortunately it doesn't matter how a certain project does internationally second season or specials only happen as long as a show does exceptionally well domestically. I am big fan of both ML's and I am happy they didn't disappoint me but amazed me with portraying such difficult emotions. Btw read your thread and can't agree more it was painful to watch Bai Jue suppress all these emotions acting tough and yet you could see his face giving all away. Xu kai is just so impressive in his portrayal of this that you are left to crave more for a more fulfilling ending.

You know what I am sad with these type of endings the whole 49 episodes were a journey of emotional rollercoaster for me. I don't mind watching an extra episode with them being a happy family. They can't do this specially since we see in one of the episodes how desperate BJ was to spend time with his family. I think audiences deserve better if only I had the power to make that change or get an special episode :(

Has anybody read the novel? If yes do we get a better closure to their story? Also how did it do in china for it to have 2nd season.

You know what I am big fan of FL from ancient love poetry she is a fabulous actress so far I have seen 3 of her movies and she just owns the screen everytime she shows up. This is such a treat her and xu kai together I wasn't going to miss it though I am not a big fan of this particular genre. As expected I am not disappointed and supporting cast is good too only such refined actors can pull off such intense emotions.

I completely understand that but I think it was more of the actress rather than the character and it might be because she is relatively new actress. If you see Bai Lu and Xui Kai in the legends or his other show Ancient love poetry (though only one scene she wasn't awkward or uncomfortable). I have seen it with many new/younger actress which is absolutely because it takes time/experience to get use to acting in intimate/romantic scenes.

He is a good actor and so underrated honestly nobody could have played LSC better than him.

No she was 23 he says my girl is in her 20s plus she was a college graduate. In one of the episode when Lue yue and smiling were fighting ML says you guys are almost 24 why are you behaving like kindergartens.

I didn't know this I have no knowledge of the esport. I mean I know athletes start at early age and by the time they are in there late 20s early thirties they are planning on there retirement. When I read the novel I thought this would be the same case that they start quite early and by there late 20s early thirties they retire but smiling started playing at 23 and by episode 29 she was already 24. LSC is suppose to be older than her by couple of years though they never reveal his age in the show but if it's only a year age gap there relationship dynamic changes completely.

Apparently the entire story was plagiarized from other author I am not sure if it's true or not but I read it in comment section on novel's translation but from below comments the hate was mostly because esports fans were not happy rather than plagiarism issue.

Is there talk going on for s2? I thought it got lot of hate in China.

So in the novel female lead is 19 years old and just out of high school while ML is 5 years older than her making him 24 years old. In the drama they changed the ages to FL being 23 a college graduate whereas they never really mention ML's age. If they have kept the same gap he should be 28.

Novel is much more detailed when it comes to there relationship also I saw some people complaining in the comments that there dates were rather rushed. I think few of details were taken out as they wanted to include wider audience and keep it PG-13 because considering the novel it could easily be rated r according to Asian standards.
