If you considerar cheating on your husband as being strong then you r right because that is basically all that…
I haven't watched enough jdramas to know if they promote cheating. But in fishbowl wives tye main lead's journey is that she finds her strength by getting out of an abusive and violent relationship and living a simpler life with someone caring.
But I can see your point in the case of the other wives. The show positioned cheating as the best solution to fixing their unhappy marriages, where in reality they would all have been better divorcing their shitty husbands and standing on their own
this was an great analysis on how gender inequality shapes female characters on screens. i love this type of well thought out content when i see it here on mdl. as for me, i have definitely seen this archetype of a jdrama heroine and it has led me to be extra picky with the dramas i start. so, i tend to look for stories that focus on strong female leads whose journey is leading them to break societal norms and fall for a younger, cute and respectful love interest. my recommendations are Fishbowl Wives and Pretty Proofreader
I love this drama but your review made me appreciate it more. The thing you said, that the simplicity of the story makes us so invested is something I hadn't realised until now. I hate overdramatic scenes and cliché storylines, and this drama was full of simple, everyday dialogue and because the characters were well written and the acting good, it made for a more impactful experience. I've only seen this with one more cdrama so far: Falling Into You. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Well damn episode 20! Very meow for a C-drama! I really liked it though. With only a handful of episodes and that…
The moms of cdramas are stereotypically portrayed as backward thinking and I can't relate. I'm hoping for a cdrama with more understanding parents. We can only hope. But in this one, they seem to get that he wants this relationship
Episode 19 where Luo Na is feeding Yu Cheng the concoction and he curls up to her chest... I need more of these…
They do this so well. Romance isn't extravagant love declarations, but small everyday gestures. When they woke up from their date, they were so cute and comfortable, it was the sweetest
it's like she's ashamed of her relationship with duan.I felt bad for duan why does she need to give an explanation…
Thanks for clarifying. I hoped at least it was bad translation but it turns out to be bad script.
I mean, in my opinion you can be friends with people that have feelings for you. That doesn't mean you owe them anything. We can't control other people's feelings, only our reaction to them

i'm going on a limb cause i don't know chinese, but maybe it's the translation? i mean, she could have said i'm sorry as in 'i feel bad' rather than 'sorry, i shouldn't have done that'. cause if it's the latter, i totally agree with you that she and no woman owes her male friend anything and least an explanation about her personal life
