Man, the preview for episode 11 looks brutal and frankly petrifying, it looks liks GS and JI's dad are going to try to force her to get married againt her will( GS asks her dad to set a wedding date and her dad's like let's choose a wedding date to GS's dad), which is truly truly TRULY fucked up, insane and borderline psychotic, but alas actually quite common and not shocking, a lot of men think they can control women's lives and view them simply as objects to move as they see fit even if they don't seem like the type (GS sure as hell didn't at first, he was definetly problematic but seemed normal enough) although I wouldn't call this behavior not normal within the patriarchal mess that is our society, I just hope our couple stays solid and stand up for each other no matter what, especially JI since she's the one that's facing the most pressure, in this ep and a previous one she told JH she wouldn't let him get hurt and we've frequently heard from her and her loved ones how opiniated she is and how she fights for what she believes in, but I'm worried because we still have six eps left but mostly because of this director's track record with something in the rain, which was a mess in the departement of standing up to the overbearing crazy parents, please don't disappoint me show, you've handled everything so well so far.
That verbal smackdown Ji ho gave to Gi seok was fantastic, he's such a delusional little weasel and it's pretty messed up that the reason he keeps wanting to get back together with JI, is specifically the fact that she likes JH, his pride is so wounded by her choosing a man that has a child, it's something he can't even begin to comprehend which is truly appaling and horrifying , the way he's reacting you'd think JH was a serial killer or something, what a piece of unrecyclable trash, he needs to get psychological help and then get punched a couple of times.
Bae Ta Mi is SUCH a badass, It's so satisfying to see, gone are the days of the female lead getting hit by eggs and the male lead standing in the way, you throw an egg at my girl you get one to the head, you try to bribe her after fucking up her life, she'll destroy your car and give you your own money to take care of it. I don't think there's ever been a female character that takes absolutely no shit while also being a vulnerable human being, she's not a caricature she's a person who always stands up for herself and it's a revelation, bae indeed. Also I hope they're not trying to start a romance between Ga kyung and her husband, him being all "I'll protect her", he's obviously a piece of garbage just like his mother and while GG isn't a saint, I want her to wake up and get her shit together not dive deeper into the trash can.
I went into this show with an open mind without reading any reviews , and after 4 episodes, I'm gonna have to drop it because the directing and editing are such a mess that made they impossible for me to watch.
That scene between Scarlett and Ga kyung was 100% romantic, but idk, I can count the lgbtqa couples in kdramas on one hand, if that. And it would definitely be some sorely lacking and longtime needed representation if it happened but I'm very skeptical knowing Korea's track record. Only time will tell.
It's honestly staggering how many amazing complicated real women there are in this show, they took like 90 percent of the screentime in the first episode and it's so rare as it's generally exactly the opposite that I was truly surprised, I hope this show keeps putting these women and their stories at the forefront for the rest of it's duration, while continuing the level of superior acting and writing.
I LOVE whatever took over this writer since chief kim, none of his other dramas were like that, and i'm soooo grateful, we get these hilarious insane badass characters with these amazing relationships and everyone's story matters even the most secondary of characters and wonderful villains, and on top of that we have these fantastic ladies who are allowed to be everything their male counterparts are, and finally in the case of fiery priest some of the best action scenes I've seen in a show that basically happen multiple times an episode , please never stop writing shows like this. There are no other shows that even come close to the utter gleeful abandon of these two while actually making us love every single character.
Holy shit, this writer is not f*cking around, this is truly messed up, i feel so bad for ji soo An and jae in but especially An and ji soo, An because SM murdered his parents and then actually RAISED him, i don't think it's possible to actually ever recover from something like that, as for Ji soo he basically got her killed with his garbage about catching the real arsonist, she wasted so many years being in love with him and her actual dying words were used to tell him he could find another way, when you think about it he screwed her over in life and in death. And while i really hate this direction of things, i admire the writer for sticking with it, because this didn't come out of nowhere and makes sense considering who SM is and how he lived during his developmental years . I'm just really sad for these characters to whom i got atatched whose lives are ruined beyond any hope of repair.
I agree, i mean if you asault or stalk someone, it doesn't really matter how in love you are, you're still guilty.…
Oh same, she seems to be a rich brat, who spends her whole life stalking that dude, that's scary on so many levels especially seeing as how she's on the main cast and this show doesn't seem to be here to actually take a critical look at this issue ( it's a rom com after all but even those can be thoughtful or at least try not to normalize problematic behavior , but unfortunately we see it all the time even with something as simple as how female characters get treated) so the stuff she's gonna pull isn't going to be considered offensive. Let's hope i'm wrong although i doubt it.
The way a lot of these fangirls feel entitled to these celebrities lives is legit INSANE, they need professional help, that conversation in the police precinct where they were like you don't know how it is to like someone , boo hoo, so what? It baffles me that they think they have a say in how these people live their lives, they're human beings and instead of treating them as such they fetishize them and put them on these pedestals and to go as far and to physically attack and terrorize another person is beyond disgusting, the sad thing is this crap happens in real life especially in countries like S.K and Japan and honestly the way the show handled it by acting like we should be understanding (i.e when she forgave them after hearing the whole bs about liking someone )is quite harmful and perpetuates some messed up ideas.
The author isn't a person from the old era...it's just her estimation from reading a few history books maybe.…
Yes, I'm not basing what I said on what I saw in this drama, but rather the actual facts I learned while reading up on the subject, slavery was common in many countries and slaves were raped , mutilated and treated in a horrendous manner everywhere. Which is truly not the least bit surprising.
The most pitiful people in this era are ultimately the slaves who get sold and killed and beaten and played with for the smallest most trivial reasons as if objects, to be at the mercy of their master's whims without a hint of humanity or a shred of compassion you would save for a dog . How it was ever deemed in any time or place to treat humanbeings like this is such a tragedy.
God, some people in this drama make my blood boil, those two Lin women, i feel like strangling them everytime…
Wow that got long, i just wanted to add the second male lead is cute, but also very much a product of his time and upbringing, the way he goes after ML and promises things shows while he loves her in his way, he' s also seeing things very much from his his side, as a man and as a high up noble, he doesn't consider how harmful it could be to her, even if they do get married by some miracle and she's the main wife by another, she would spend a lifetime suffering being put down by his family and mother. That's why I loved what that doctor said, he can actually see how unfairly women are treated and recognize their worth and skills, the only man so far to have done so.
God, some people in this drama make my blood boil, those two Lin women, i feel like strangling them everytime one of them starts sheding her crocodile tears, and the mother basically murdered ML's mom, i hope she gets what she deserves in the form of a horrifying death or a life of endless misery, and that dumbass father, i cannot believe how he's been manipulated time and time again, with a few words and tears, he really has no awarness what a piece of garbage, i need him to get his shit together and get some sort of misery for all the crap he's put ML and her mother through, he never set out to be evil, but being willfuly ignorant( he can't be that stupid) could be just as if not even more harmful, none of that witch's schemes would have worked if he actually had a brain or stopped being led a round by his d*ck. I'm only on ep 17 and the fact that male lead already has a mistress and two kids actually kinda bothers me but i understand it was par with the times, but he needs to wake up as well with that coniving singer of his, and as long as he loves ML and they have an equal marriage ( as equal as it could be during that period) and they form a badass power couple that love and cherish each other , I'm cool. I just really really need every single one of these pos to get their much deserved sufferings.
Ok i have 2 questions, does sunny grow a back bone, because watching her get played left and right is downright painful. And is there an actual romance between her and wang shik as said in the synopsis?
