I tried watching this drama but the characters are too much of losers for my taste, none of the plotlines are interesting enough, and i wanted to watch Shin Min Ah but her character hardly appears in first 5 episodes. This is a big disappointment after watching Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha which was immediately gripping with its comedy and cast of characters.

Hilarious show, especially the acting from the two FLs is so good and funny and great sis-mance. Also Kim Bo Mi is one of the best characters i've seen in a k-drama.

The cinematography in Hometown Cha Cha Cha has a distinct visual style that sets the drama apart. It seamlessly…
Watch The Villainess, his camera work is terrific in that movie too.

He certainly wrote his novel. We can infer that from the fact that being a writer is a big motif in the film. He says he likes Willian Faulkner's works. The movie itself is a Wiliam Faulkner story inside a Murukami story. The director Lee Chang-dong himselt was a novelist before becoming a director at 40 yrs of age. So it's most likely the case. I'm certain the ending scene is a writer's revenge because he couldn't even touch Ben in real life as is implied.

The interesting part is whether Ben is actually a serial killer as Jong-su believes or is Ben actually a sex-trafficker, which would explain how he is so rich without actually doing anything and how he captures young girls and makes them "disappear" . And the part that Hae-mi is actually able to escape both and Ben and Jong-su ( who hurts her by calling her a whore) the very next day and disappears because of the piling debt.

Another interesting part is the fact that Hae-mi in the beginning says she is childhood friend of Jong-su but Jong-su doesn't remember her to which she says it's because she had a plastic surgery, and to prove it Hae-mi recalls to a certain well. But when Jong-su asks about that well from her family they deny the existence of the well. Which means Hae-mi could also possibly be a complete stranger who comes into his life and leaves just as strangely. God this film a true masterpiece for me.

There's WAAAAY more to it than just you said. Ben may or may not be the killer, hae-mi may have been killed or simply disappeared because of the massive debt, and the ending scene is simply Jong-su doing a writer's revenge. He's seen writing on his laptop in the apartment, the ending scene was an ending to his novel. He doesn't actually kill Ben.

This film is my fav example of ambiguous cinema. It's the kind of cinema which leaves an everlasting impression. But there's more it. It's one of the most beautifully shot films ever, the cinematography is off the charts. The sunset scene is otherworldly. I could go and on as to what i love about Burning but long story short when i watched it first time i gave it 3.5/5. But there's an alluring strangeness about it in those beautiful shots, it kept visiting my head again and again untill it became my fav film of all time.

The chemistry / bromance between the two male leads is off the charts. Perhaps the best i've seen in k-drama. Really good show. 8/10 or 8.5/10.

Short, sweet, excellent. One of the best korea has to offer. K-drama won't be a serious story telling medium until they fix their ridiculous 16 episode format. Make your dramas 8/10/12 episodic.

Watching just one of his k-dramas was enough for me to realize he is the best that Korean k-drama industry has to offer. Perfect mix of looks, acting and a uniquely charming confident style.

Overhyped. I guess for the audience of this site a romeo juliet like tragedy is some otherworldly shit. Nothing special if you know the standard of writing in K-drama industry. Also this felt very much like a story from those standard Japanese manga that rely on shock value of tragedy while lacking any other kind of depth in characters or plot. 7.5/10. Giving an extra 0.5 coz it has 3 of my fav actors in Park Sung Wong, Jang Young Nam and Jung So Min.

The mentor - disciple chemistry between two leads is already off the charts. Great show so far.
