I had dropped it initially but i was getting annoyed by how much i was disliking Love Next Door so i wanted to finish this one and drop Love Next Door out of spite. Gosh i absolutely dislike this trope of Childhood friends to lovers. RomCom is all about chemistry of the main leads but when both leads know each other for a long time it takes all the excitement away that comes from getting to know each other and the situational comedy that comes with it. I also dropped Fight For My Way for same reason. I'm sick of k-drama fans eating this shit up every fking year so k-drama writers keep copy pasting this every year. To give a contrast of how much this trope brings down a drama you can watch Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha which has a similar setting and cast but because it doesn't have this silly trope the chemistry between the leads is amazing, it's off the charts, among the very best, comedy is also great. Homtown Cha-Cha-Cha, Crash Course in Romancee, Backstreet Rookie and Familiar Wife are the best RomComs i've seen.
For me, I think it’s a snoozer. The constant back and forth banter is getting old and everything is falling…
The banter is getting old because childhood friends to lovers is one of the worst, least interesting tropes for a RomCom coz when the two leads already know each other for a long time it takes away a lot of excitement that comes from getting to know and interacting each other and a lot of "first times". So you're left with shallow banter and silly flashbacks in between. On the top of that the humour is also dull and boring. Last year it was Welcome to Samdal-ri with same plot but for some reason K-drama keep eating it up every year.
What a complete simp ............and loser ml was !!! And it annoys to see people with confused feelings like…
I agree with you. K-drama fans live in their little la la fantasy where they think this is how normal people act in real lives too. I also disliked this show because of the main leads, childhood friends to lovers is already one of the worst tropes on top of that the comedy in this show is mostly misses, it's just dull and boring.
My view .. i think this drama has taken a page from Welcome to Sam dal-ri .. Only 4 episodes though so will wait…
LND or WtS are nowhere near to HCCC. Unlike HCCC these two have the typical overdone childhood friends to lovers trope so the chemistry between their leads is nowhere near or as exciting as it is in HCCC.
its difficult to get through because this trope is sooooo overdone
It's like clockwork. It was Welcome to Samdal-ri last year but as usual K-drama fans will eat it up, forget about it and like, hype the same childhood friends to lovers drama next year.
Funny thing i'm watching Welcome to Samdal-ri side by side and the two shows are so similar. Childhood friends to lovers is one of the tropes i dislike the most coz to me a RomCom chemsitry is no fun if the two leads already know each other for a long time, it takes away a lot of excitement. So watching this show has been a chore also because humour is mostly misses in this show for me.
I dropped Fight For My Way for same reason. Might drop this show soon i just wanted to watch it for Jung So Min but it's crazy it has 23k watchers. I guess i'm just a little surprised to find out these kind of shows are the most popular on this site coz i joined MDL a few months ago so it's a first time for me to see so much buzz and hype around a show.
The Naeun/Minho storyline should be the main story :) The dad/ex is annoying.
The dad mom storyline is the best and pulls off comedy exceptionally well. Naeun/Minho storyline is the same old umbrella love storyline in every k-drama.
Nah this drama is still ongoing in my head. One of my fav RomComs. The references to the dance scene from Pulp Fiction, Take My Breath Away from Top Gun and to Chungking Express were all really hilarious and amazing. 7.6 is too low but some hidden gems are meant to stay hidden.
Korean dramas are representation of unrealistic scenarios only.
I also feel the same. It's because the script, the screenplay and directing is not good enough imo. 8.7 is crazy high for this show. Compared to this i'm loving Romance in the House. The comedy in that show is all hits and the mom dad daughter dynamic is great.

I also felt the same. This show is tagged as RomCom but there's hardly any good humor, the directing and visual style and the dramatic parts makes it feel like a human centric melodrama rather than a RomCom. The script and the chemistry between the two leads is too dull for a RomCom.
