Actually Xiaoyao only hesitated when she was asked about Tushan Jing she never say 'No'? Even though she thought…
The whole issue here is some fans is insisting Xiaoyao's 'true love' to be Xiangliu, but Xiangliu is not someone who needs to be defined by Xiaoyao's love in the first place.

Looking beyond this controversial scene, just compare the ranking of the men in Xiaoyao's heart for your answer.

We can all agree:
Cangxuan >>> Xiangliu : Xiaoyao will never consider harming CX for XL

from the trailer,
Jing >>>> Cangxuan : Xiaoyao could kill CX over what he did to TSJ

I couldn’t even remember him in S1. So glad to see him here. He’s the top 3 best characters to me.. the other…
So happy Jing has a good friend like him during his down period...

Jing is not a coward and XY doesn't need him to be a "protector" either.
Many people keep saying Xiangliu did so much for Xiaoyao, but actually so did Tushan Jing.
He did so much legwork to help stabilize CX's political standing and that in turn keeps the two of them safer during CX's quest for the throne. But TSJ never claimed any credit. So it really goes unsung.
Talk about reel life to real life... He gets no credit in the drama and non outside either. The drama chose not to show it and so people just forget it happened lol

Jing is actually perfect for her because of her savior complex. She wants to be in control and call the shots.…
I would say Xiaoyao doesn't have a savior complex but she is just a very kind deity who can't help but extend help to others, be it a beggar slave woman from Baili, a dying beggar or sickened rebel soldiers.
In fact XY is the one who is desperately looking for someone to save her.

Jing is not within her arm's reach. When they broke up, that was what made her so broken, because she thought she lost him for good. Even after they resolved their misunderstanding, Jing was still hardly considered available. Xiaoyao was willing to see where their relationship would go and fight for him.

Seriously can people stop cheapening Xiaoyao's love? Just because she didn't choose to fight for Xiangliu instead?

XL stalking XY 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Exactly! I really wonder why those people don't see Xiangliu appearing to her all the time as stalking but Jing is stalking... *eyerolls*
That guy has been creeping about in S1 often too. Talk about double-standards.

He has a very brief introduction back in S1 when Jing introduced him to Cangxuan after he became Tushan Chief. He looked so serious swearing his allegiance to CX I had no idea he was such a hilarious doggy.

Even Jing chuckled after he said that. I love Lirong Chang in this, the actor really has great comedic timing…
Incidentally, I have a feeling that Tonghua meant for Jing to suffer from these limitations.
Other than 'nerfing' this genius and all-round Dahuang bachelor... she could show Xiaoyao could still love him even if he was 'damaged'.

Also he lost an important skill he practiced. I don't think the drama will ever mention this so its not a spoiler right? Don't laugh but Jing's fighting style is musical HAHAHAH
Apparently he uses his voice to charm the enemy or bewitch them. That was why Hou damaged his throat and now his voice is broken and raspy. He probably used to sing like those sirens...

But thanks to this defect, nobody can claim Jing bewitched XY into loving him. hehehehe its all through other parts of his foxy charm.

As you also have seen, the love bugs did not glow in this case. I think the final version they realized it made no sense.

Actually Xiaoyao only hesitated when she was asked about Tushan Jing she never say 'No'? Even though she thought…
In my opinion she just struggled more and more about her answer when she thought of TSJ.

As far as I have read in novel and now seen the drama, about how XY suffered during her breakup. She also said a few times that the first person she liked and lost is TSJ. This 喜欢 is a big deal for that time period. Its similar to korean's 'joahae' or japanese 'suki desu', In case people start asking me why didn't Xiaoyao say 'love'. People tend to be more reserved and they don't use that word love easily.

I just don't understand why you overlook everything yaojing has together but insist on something that did not even get to develop into something life-changing.

Please don't tell me love bugs anymore.
I think we have discussed that point to death.

At this point, I think we really have to agree to that we will probably not see eye to eye about this.

In the novel, XY and CX are first cousins. CX has romantic feelings for XY anyway. It doesn't seem totally uncommon…
Actually it was really common for cousins to marry in China in the past, not only in imperial families.
As ladies tend to live in very close circles as they are not allowed to go out and socialize in public, many girls tend to fall for their cousins because those maybe the only males they might get to meet until they are ready to get married. Especially in chinese dramas, 表哥s used to be a very common love interest. Take 天龙八部 Demi gods and semi devils, one of the female leads was in love with her cousin.

Here is my theory on ep 6 where XY was asked a series of questions under XL's power (call it hypno or truth telling).…
Actually Xiaoyao only hesitated when she was asked about Tushan Jing she never say 'No'? Even though she thought she accepted in her mind that he was no longer going to be a part of her life, she could not outright refuse because she still had feelings for him in her heart.
But Ye Shiqi, the man who had nothing, she was ready to accept without any hesitation.

Since XL did not dare to ask with his own names, we will never know for sure what her answer would have been, but Xiangliu seemed to believe her answer would be TSJ.

Actually regarding this scene, what I found interesting was, Xiangliu had actually been unsure if Xiaoyao really didn't want to marry Fenglong.

The bug connection they had gave him access to her feelings but not her thoughts.

Probably like how TSJ had thought before that Fenglong or Fangfeng Bei was a good choice for her, Xiangliu also thought Fenglong would be suitable since TSJ is 'out' and he wasn't going to try anyway.

That's why he asked her if she wanted to marry Fenglong and he used his powers on her to get her to tell him the truth. That was probably when he realized, out of them all, only Tushan Jing realized what Xiaoyao was really thinking after all. He was the one who could tell XY was deeply unhappy.

I wonder if XL would have let XY marry Fenglong if TSJ did not approach him to stop the wedding. In the novel, he had two months to stop it.
Left to his own choice, would he have removed the bug connection as she requested?
( SPOILER Lets just say if he didn't it will become quite gross lol )

It was a confusing thing yes because Heng actually addressed her own mother as "Master". But the way the story progressed it was clear that she was the old King of Xiyan's daughter. That would appear to be a drama 'bug' where they changed something but it didn't follow through logically.

Heng is just the name she used to travel the world. Her surname is Xiyan. Cangxuan and Xiaoyao are cousins by blood, on his father's side.

We have to wait and see if the drama adapts this part of the novel or not (from chapter 48), but in the novel…
Actually that change was really absurd, but since they went with it, we can also see it as, Xiaoyao was sending a clear sign to Xiangliu.
If you come for me, its for life. If its short term, don't come.

And as I mentioned in another previous post, at this point of time, XY was still just in a passive phase. She was waiting around only after she sent that globe/pill. She would not take another step to call XL to her.

She was waiting to see if XL would come save her from a life with Fenglong. Life with him would be more 'fun' than Fenglong since even she could tell that guy will have no time for her at all. But she didn't believe it will be right to choose XL, so she didn't dare to take another decisive step.
She was waiting for 'destiny' to make the decision for her, so if it turned out bad, she didn't have to blame herself for making the wrong choice.

I agree. XY's main goal was to find long term companionship, love was never on her mind, until she met XL, hence…
I think her reason was just an excuse since she didn't want XL to hurt her again, but mixed with some sincerity. It was the same as she said she made the poison specially for him but she made it to defend against Ah Nian. She already said she thought they would never meet again so why would she prepare poison for him? But XL was too pleased at what she said, he didn't realize the logic error there.

The real reason she didn't want Xiangliu to touch her lips back then, was because she considered herself 'binded' to Jing already since she made him a promise and having another man touch her lips is considered as 'cheating' to her. She also dared to tell XL not to take blood from her neck. Normally XY is always scared of XL and won't dare to go against him, but for TSJ she was brave enough to speak her mind and maintain that line with him.

Which was why she was thinking about Jing again before she was going to take air from Xiangliu after her breakup. Xiangliu knew it too, that's why he really wanted to kiss her but he stopped. Even he don't want to become a consolation prize.

I agreed and believe too that XY will go with XL/FFB if he dropped his duty.
FFB's foundation was not strong enough yet when he made his offer to Xiaoyao who thought he was just kidding.

He didn't thank XL for 'letting him have XY' he only thanked him for sending her his way. Even Xiangliu also said, XY went to find Jing on her own, he had nothing to do with it. All he did was inform her about the truth that's all.

We have to wait and see if the drama adapts this part of the novel or not (from chapter 48), but in the novel…
So you are saying he felt pain at that very moment to let her go, in order to get the pain to make her fall to the ground? Later when he watch her leave at the carriage, he seemed to already have made peace with that since he didn't look like he was in pain anymore...

Earlier in S1 Ep19 when he saw TSJ carrying Xiaoyao and how Xiaoyao was looking at TSJ fondly, his heartache then was because... he was jealous?

I still think its become heartbreak bugs and XL was suffering alone. That would actually make his decision to keep the bugs even more poignant since he was being hurt but he wanted to retain that connection for him to be able to help the Chenrong army.

Still I agree its not conclusive and maybe later episodes will show us more clues if they would even bother or just leave things vague.

No... for now the schedule is no eps on the weekend, and maaaybe 2 eps everyday from Mon-Thurs... however maybe depending on if the heat is falling during the weekend, tencent could suddenly change their minds... they really should give us at least 1 ep a day like back in S1... sigh..
