The last remnants of Kim Sun Ah pre-2010s. It's a decent romance tearjerker mix. The earlier parts were lighter and the later parts brought sadness as expected from the theme. Kim Sun Ah has a unique charm and it definitely shows here.
The opening/ending theme is so damn good I couldn't get enough of it! It's a decent old drama from back then when Choi Ji Woo used to dominate the genre. Very over-dramatic ending, I would prefer the ending to focus more on the main leads instead. On an unrelated note, Son Ji Chang looks nothing like his former self, as if an entirely different person.
I'm not sure what's the writer trying to do. There are 5 sibling who encounter every imaginable individual/familial…
Shim Ran raped We Sang while unconscious, got pregnant, had a baby and gave him the kid to raise. In what world is that acceptable? The drama made a big problem of the smallest things but somehow they brushed off this matter like nothing and didn't get more than a couple of scenes. I think Shim Ran had a total of 4 scenes in the entire thing. There were several other examples just like that, this is how the writer treated most of the problems. They were added just for the shock value.
I'm not sure what's the writer trying to do. There are 5 sibling who encounter every imaginable individual/familial problem every single episode. There was no period of recovery, problem after another until the writer ran out of episodes otherwise she would keep writing more problems. The problems didn't really help progress the story as much as just prolong its run. There's no real development. After the end credits they will get back to being their usual miserable selves but maybe they will drag more people into their misery now they're married. The formula is simple and the fix is even simpler. Reduce the amount of ridiculous problems, give the characters more depth and bigger problems rather than more problems. These problem should be characters defining type of problems.
If I had to take a guess, the writer mainly writes daily dramas and writing for a smaller series was an unfamiliar territory for her. This showed by how things changed around the end, just like any daily drama. The change came because they ran out of episodes. I wanted to like the drama but it's in a non-functional state. Yet, it had some nice moments and some dark humor at times which makes it kinda watchable.
Beyond stupid and not in an entertaining way. More plot holes than a Swiss cheese. Practically unwatchable. Both leads didn't have the cop/detective energy at all.
The drama needed to move faster or take a different route or get shortened because after a very long build up and endless anticipation the delivery/payoff wasn't quite as impactful as I expected. Some later parts had too much running around, silence and a lack of communication. You can tell they were trying to stretch it. Considering the theme of the drama being dark/depressing/sad, the cinematography needed some adjustments. It needed slightly darker colors and saturation, lower brightness and contrast, and less exposure. Considering the theme, I also expected more violence. With all that being said, it's still a decent watch.
It's pretty clear and obvious from the very beginning that they were riding on the tomboy train at the time and desperately trying to create a copy of other cross-dressers/tomboy-looking of other popular works. All in all, it's a failed attempt with zero redeeming qualities.
Don't take the story seriously. It's ridiculous and immoral to add to the bizarre and outlandish setup. Otherwise the comedy wouldn't have worked. Overall, it's an enjoyable watch.
>slap on the face. I don't mind spoilers, what do you mean by this?
The male lead (Hyun Woo) gave the female lead (Soo In) a full force cold-hearted soul-piercing open-hand slap on the face breaking all the norms for males not slapping females. It's a very well deserved slap. They were madly in love and even made big promises but the next day female lead disappeared for 3 or 5 years without saying a single word. If I remember correctly, her reason was that the longer she stays with him the more she will love him so better off end it early for their own sake, something about their carriers/studies/families.
They had an idea but awful execution. Scuffed production, barely serviceable performance, dead story, and bad basketball players. Also, very yucky triangle.
I wish this was only 8 episodes max. They had a nice concept but the jokes got stale by the second half alongside the cases. Also, I really couldn't stand Park Jung Woo. Would rather have a 4th old geezer instead.
Fried chicken init! As a chicken connoisseur, I don't approve this. The dirtiest chicken restaurant I know serves better chicken than this guy's chicken. Anyway, the drama was straight up not good, even the cast was meh. Also, it would be better off if they removed the romance and made more chicken instead.
Once the grandmother appeared halfway through the first episode I knew exactly what kind of show this was going to be. It's one of those cheap ones that somewhat managed to broadcast 16 episodes. Incoherent bad story, it doesn't even work as a slice of life. It's like a very long scuffed Youtube skit. A waste of cast.
It's pretty clear what you are getting yourself into and it delivers just that to a certain extent. I personally found it unnecessarily long. Which is why it took a more melodrama route than a familial/drama route. Which is also why it took some time to get to the point. It does nothing new, however, it remains a decent tear-jerker. That final scene on the motorcycle was a nice touch.
Just like most mysteries, they fall apart halfway through and this one was no exception. The outcome was unbelievably bad and the whole thing had more plot holes than a Swiss cheese. Regarding the cinematography, the levels, exposure and contrast were slightly off but distracting (mostly on the island). I checked both Netflix and the TV version and both had the same thing. Luckily it's an easy fix for me with PotPlayer.
The 19 years old (Kang Min Gu) was the worst story, cringe bland boring, him and his girlfriend. Then there's the 9 years old who finds himself in a career slump and lost his 8 years old girlfriend to his rival! His story was short and funny since it was just a comedic relief. The other two stories were good. Although I would prefer if it was shorter since the story seemed too thin. Overall, it's a decent watch.
