The drama's biggest problem that always broke the immersion is its inconsistent directing/editing. I also hated Hye Rin motivation and reasoning, always felt wimpy and childish. Still a good drama.
No one will give you the tune of despair like Jang Hyuk does. If you're expecting a father-daughter focused drama then don't even bother because that was less than 5% of the drama. Even the sport theme felt secondary. There need to be a supernatural tag/genre instead of adventure. It's about an evil pharmaceutical company making a drug that gives superpowers. Not even Jang Hyuk heavy lifting the entire drama on his back could've saved it. I wish this was only family/boxing themed, it would've been great.
Good comedy. The story was fine but the later parts were falling apart and strange maybe because of the financial problems the drama had and the fact that it was cut down from 30 to 12. Even some of the cast didn't appear later on.
I couldn't stomach most of Dong Yup scenes. They gave him too much attention and screen-time. Would prefer more focus on other characters. The drama itself was decent with a handful of funny scenes but unfortunately not memorable.
Don't watch it from Netflix/Disney. They cut off minutes from every single episodes. Get the TV version instead. The mystery was dull and its only driving force. There was a need to build up a better case for the importance of the victim before diving in. Once the mystery was revealed, the disappointment settled in. Was this the best they could come up with for the reason behind the death? I was expecting something grand and much darker other than this wacky ass nonsense. The cast performance was decent enough, there was an attempt. Especially with this serviceable production. Go Ah Sung, Kim Myung Soo and Chae Soo Bin were all offered roles but all declined and it seems for a good reason.
I was expecting mature human drama but I got stinky rubbish. Stupid story, stupid writing, stupid demented delusional characters. How was this even approved? This drama is actually the worst of its genre. It's impressive how bad it was. At least it serves as a good example of what not to do.
The relationships were light and uninteresting. Most of the characters were unlikable. The business aspect of it was weak and generic. It's the type of events were things just work for the business because it's a drama, a very strong plot armor.
Kai made me realize the true meaning of life and love and that is not to watch his other projects. This drama was purely a promotional piece for his non-existent acting career. They didn't have anything to serve the viewers so they went the terminal illness route.
Interesting set up and mystery elements to hook you up initially but fails miserably in its execution. Almost unwatchable from episode 4 to the end. Unserviceable writing full of holes, edge and cringe. Speaking of cringe, the prosecutor Yi Ra personality, what were they even trying to do?
Nice concept but very very poor execution. No amount of good cast could save this. I thought I was watching one of those OCN thrillers. This writing was dead-on-arrival. I want to see Rain in better future projects.
Actually great revenge drama! I was expecting an entirely different plot with the twins but the root it took was fine as well. Great characters, banger OST and does what a revenge drama needs to do. The first half was great but the second half was too slow until the last couple of episodes. The ending needed to be tighter, things were all over the placed and disorganized. Maybe they bit more than they could chew for how much they crammed the last 2 episodes. It's better than "Lucifer" and "Shark" that's for sure. The drama had the chance to be a certified classic but it needs a lot of fixing and clean up.
I loved the unhinged scenes every now and then, the actors put all their might into them. Then comes the ending, to say it's bad is an understatement. It was done purely for shock value. It doesn't serve any other purpose, not even an artistic/poetic one. Straight up wasted which really unfortunate because the drama was decent.
Note that this drama is 16 episodes + 4 extra. The extra episodes were completely useless and irrelevant to the main story, just some cases of the daily life of a loan shark and can be skipped.
The first half pre time skip was a lot of fun but then it got serious and sucked out all the fun out of it. The relationships in the second half weren't good enough to compensate that. A lot of pointless push and pull that always led to a dead end until they reach the last scene of episode 16 to change that. Kwon Sang Woo did a fantastic job, he was the perfect embodiment of his "trust me bro" character. Unfortunately, again, they tuned down his character in the second half. The same thing can be said about how chaotic Chae Rim was in the 1st half.
This is the worst mother-daughter relationship ever written. The writer is completely clueless on how to write…
It was meant to be focused on the mother daughter dynamic but the mother decided to die alone with her doctor friend. Not with her daughter or the ex-husband or the boyfriend. They never told the daughter about her illness until she found out suddenly that her mother died. All what the daughter got was a generic email 1 year later after her mother's death. Shitty ending with no climax, you would expect at the very least some good one final good bye dialogue between the mother and her daughter.
This isn't a "must watch".
