Bruh I don't understand the hate for SML. He's not even that complex to understand. I'm convinced people here are either 12 or take everything at face value.
Feels like the writer had a vision of the drama both starting and ending with a dynamite kiss in Jeju. Then she filled the in-between with all the tropes available in the kdrama market.
I'm one of the few people who loved the second half more than the first. I just love it when characters go through a separation and mature enough to understand each other's hardships. Not to mention He Yu nailing that yearner role and ofc Esther did wonderfully too.
Ya'll need to understand that Jin Zhao isn't running away for her sake or out of noble idiocy. It's because he hates his disability and it makes him embarrassed of himself. Imagine a young girl who loves and idolises you seeing you as a wreck. Not to mention she had everything and he had nothing to his name. Even his body was gone. He disappeared because he didn't feel worthy enough. The only reason he can face her now is because he's working hard to look physically 'normal' and getting education. It's his own insecurity that's hurting him. Not the fact that he would be a burden to her.
why!? is it because of his health!? so he doesn't want her to suffer because of him !? thank you I like spoilers
It's because he doesn't like it when she gets sad over his leg and tries to help him. She feels guilty for not being there for him when he was sick and he feels embarrassed to look weak in front of her. It's just sooo heavy and complicated and it takes a while for them to get used to it. You realise he didn't push her away to avoid being a burden but rather because he hates his disabled self. That's why he tries so hard to get better and look normal in front of her. Understandable since she's always depended on and looked up to him. I cried in those scenes more than any other tbh.
I'm glad I read the book because it's so nice to understand both of their perspectives clearly. And SPOILER the angst kinda doesn't end even after they get together again ITS SO FREAKING EMOTIONAL
Esther is seriously great at doing emotional scenes. And she's also good at serious roles based on MJTY. Bubbly and goofy characters she does well. She's just awkward at scenes where she's supposed to be shy. He Yu is all panting and one second away from losing control and she's just like a wooden board. She can't portray shyness well. I really like Esther and never miss any of her dramas but some scenes here are really not for her. I can tell she's trying but it doesn't translate well on camera.
I was rewatching the previews, and one thing I'm little worried about is the change of Xie Zheng personality. In…
Yeah I think it's for the romcom factor but I like it, since the way Xie Zheng falls for Changyu is easy to understand in the book because we read his thoughts, but tough to show on screen. So little acts of physical affection might smoothen the abrupt portrayal of his feelings.
omg they only lived together until female lead was 9 and the mother never accepted himas her son or FL brother.…
They didn't know each other for nine years though. The FL's dad gets him when she's like 6 or something. The ML's parents die or something like that so her dad takes him in without his wife's consent which eventually leads to their divorce a couple of years later. The leads don't really spend much time together before they are separated. They always knew they weren't siblings.
wait---esp.9 [PAUSE] dont reply to me with nonsense... ABEGMr.GONG is really taking the piss by mixing personal…
The job is especially for disadvantaged married women with kids. By lying she took the spot of another woman who could have been just as good as her if not better. She's comitting fraud. That's a fact irrespective of her hardships or talent.
I think you idealize the plot. At what moment did she ever realize the gravity of her lies, when at the end she…
The realization is for herself. She now knows that she took Jihyeok's kindness and affection for granted, and that she doesn't have any right to expect or enjoy it. Do you really think she cried outside because she missed her bus or broke her shoe? Whatever her budding feelings were, she nipped them because of his engagement.
And I think you just have a problem with the FL being a bright and optimistic character, based on your other comment below. Believe it or not, some people don't wallow in despair, blaming their bad luck for everything. Darim is very strong, she always looks on the bright side, choosing not to break down. Her mother's illness and family debt were not caused by her, yet she chose to shoulder them when she had nothing to her name. Her sister was responsible, yet she called and comforted her. Her hardships are not her whole life. She can have fun, make friends, and fall in love too. Her positivity makes her the family's only hope. And that's how hope is. Bright and smiling.
Unlike most viewers, I feel that the pacing of the drama is perfect. EP 1-2 were about their whirlwind romance, 3-4 set the foundation for the lie and showed how they reacted to the situation. 5-6 showed us how Jihyeok's attraction for Darim was growing beyond just passion due to their similar burdens and thoughts. 7-8 was Jihyeok feeling guilty and trying to put an end to his feelings and Darim realizing the gravity of her lie.
The fact that the draggy misunderstanding is frustrating us is precisely because we are going though Jiheyok's turmoil in detail, and that makes the inevitable confrontation and romance more exciting. We just can't wait for it!
I think EP 9-10 will be about Jihyeok feeling fooled and betrayed and Darim confessing her lie trying to make up. The real romance will start from 11-12 and we'll probably see some 'scandals' and opposition that will arise and be cleared in EP 13-14. Ultimately a BIG FAT HAPPY ENDING is on the horizon.
I hope the drama stays funny and emotional and they give us the many kisses that are due!
Today's episode gave me Coffee Prince flashbacks with all the internal conflict and self-loathing the ML is going through. All we need is an equivalent of the "I don't care if you're a man or an alien" line lmao. Poor Jihyeok though, he doesn't deserve this suffering.
Romcoms are just a gift from God honestly. Even my bleary life looks colourful. Making me get through each day looking forward to watching the next episode!
