Even though most of her army has never seen her face, a few close and high-up confidants do realise that she's been replaced, so He Rufei gets them all killed by conspiring with the enemy and ambushing his own army. Lil bitch! That causes He Yan to want revenge more than her credit being taken away.

Oh? I've read the book multiple times and he fits imo. The made him softer? than in the book but it's still passable.

She's the classic "all brawns, no brains" typa army man lol. She's not stupid but she wants to be happy. She only cares about her army and her passion for fighting. Even her revenge plan is simple, become a general quickly so she can stand on the same level as her brother and expose him. Scheming was never her forte with her pure little heart.

The cinematography and screenwriting is indeed disappointing but at least the CAST IS EATING! Cheng Lei and Zhou Ye are doing such a perfect job at portraying the characters accurately. Not to mention they are both hot and the chemistry is definitely there!
