7.8 is too less of a rating for this! I don't think there are many dramas that have adapted their source novels this well. Not to mention the acting was great and the directing impeccable. I love that all scenes were so naturally directed and all plot points made sense. This is truly a high quality drama. I'm a sucker for slowburn romances and this delivered it so PERFECTLY. I was squealing and giggling the whole time. Also it does the comedy so well, I was laughing from scene 1! The characters are so well fleshed out, even the ones that appear for only a moment. LOVE LOVE LOVE WOULD RECOMMED 100x

The ending of episode 25 though! Xie Zheng had such a commanding presence even as commoner Yan Zheng. The way…
Exactly! He's such a perfect leader and husband. Comments saying the situation was made just for him to be a knight in shining armour are dumb. He's literally the one punishing her. How can a husband sit and watch his wife get caned?

Im annoyed with her isn’t she supposed to be smart? Dumbing FL down again so ML can protect her. I need to watch…
Uh obviously it's not for the ML to protect her... it's to teach her that she can't do whatever she wants and interfere with military operations. She's a butcher from a little town with no education. What makes you think she is smarter than most commoners? The show has never portrayed otherwise. She has strength and a good heart but that isn't enough. You guys just want a 'strong' FL but aren't interested in seeing how she becomes strong. She wasn't born with Art of War in her hands. She needs to learn.

I think Changyu needs to learn a lesson this time. She is uneducated and reckless. Not her fault. She has always been independent and fights for her loved ones as she sees fit. As per the plot, she is set to become a general soon, and wisdom doesn't come magically. She needs to learn that brute strength and good intentions aren't the way to lead an army. In the book she does something similar and endangers the lives of many, and gets no punishment, just a scolding from Xie Zheng. After that she eventually becomes a general but we don't see how she got the knowledge. I think this is good.

One of the best sageuks in recent years. 16 episodes just flew by! High quality writing and a beautiful job done by the actors. I love it so much, wish I could erase my memory and rewatch. The romance is beautiful Every look every touch, every action and every word was so sweet. This is how you make a ride or die couple. It's actually like a brighter version of The Red Sleeve, in a world where they are more reckless and unafraid to love.

He's not a dark character at all. He's just a typical man who thinks like a man and makes mistakes like a man.…
Lol biting out of pure horniness while kissing isn't sadistic. I don't know what book you've read because he is nowhere near cruel.

I'll just say, in SOKP the ML was intimidating and scheming, in MJTY emotional and sensitive, here he's manly and passionate.

Question for all who read the novel, is ML complex dark character? I just finished Story of the Kunning palace…
He's not a dark character at all. He's just a typical man who thinks like a man and makes mistakes like a man. He's not a green flag soft boy or anything but he never hurts the FL or is scary. He's possessive but not in a psycho way, just in a jealous way. He loves her intensely. Honestly one of the best written MLs for me. He's like a younger version of Wei Shao from POB. Doesn't believe in love until he falls in love lol.

Ok, so it was a successful short 3 mins drama in 2025, now it is being repackaged into a longer drama with more…
No, it was a really popular novel which got purchased by multiple companies to produce IPs like a donghua, manhua, short drama and this full length drama.

I love how Xie Yong'er is styled in this! The simple hair with no ornaments which makes her seem perfectly elegant yet innocent, that's how a true "female lead" is supposed to look! The show is doing a great job in portraying all the cliches.

Unpopular opinion but I love the technicality in this drama. Being an architect it's so fun seeing it depicted so well, although a bit on the high-end glam spectrum. Also Shine on Me! I have a Master's degree in Sustainable Building and it's all about solar PV panels. Solar Energy is one of the most essential technologies for a livable future. A lot of people called it Chinese propoganda and tbh I was slightly offended because ya'll actually need to know about this. It's the most basic method for cutting non-renewable electricity consumption. Chinese dramas always highlight their prestige in scientific development and I think that's way more educational and important than stories about imaginary worlds and creatures. Rather than propoganda it's more encouraging and spreading awareness.
