I think part of this drama was let's try to be deep with the emotional stuff with family and loss, and the other was, look at these two handsome men.
I must say though, I appreciated that they tried to make them feel like a couple without the typical roommates cohabitation bit. And they had many intimate moments which was surprising.
Toranosuke Kobayashi and his portrayal of Taichi has seriously grown on me. Each episode, I'm reminded of how much of love these two leads. They emote so well. And I thought I'd be annoyed by the pacing, but it's working. But I hope they don't end up rushing at the end and we're able to wrap up in a fulfilling way.
I love that we're seeing them spend time together and seeing time pass. This makes the development of feelings and the relationship more believable to me.
well its from a country where its still a taboo same as south korea or china.
All of those countries have had steamy/uncensored same sex kisses before. Granted, China more recently has limited same sex depictions. For J-BLs, it seems like it just depends on the drama if you're going to get an "censored/fake" kiss or not. And yes, it's quite frustrating.
I appreciate the character development thus far. I appreciate the very strong acting even more.
I love where we are in the story and that it's happening at ep 5/12. It they continue like this, it gives the characters, story, and the relationship room to breathe. Hopefully this keeps up. Please keep this up.
To say that this drama is good is an understatement. Probably the most commendable thing about this drama for me, aside from the fantastic acting, script, and production values, is the pacing. We're building a really solid foundation with believable and emotional events.
Seeing Kohei's hearing loss and what that means to him, that fear is relatable. It's not exaggerated or over dramatized or anything like that. And the production quality and the choices in scenes and locations really really really help drive those emotions home. This is shaping up to be a true gem.
There is so much to appreciate about this drama and this episode in particular.
I sincerely appreciated the way the played out Kohei's date. Everything made sense from start to finish. Showing how Kohei felt or saw how girls were were interested in Taichi. Friend tries to help set his bud up with a girl. Kohei wasn't even interested at first. Then when he thinks about it a bit, he get's super excited. Then he feels down that the girl was interested in Taichi and not him. But instead of getting annoyed with Taichi, he fine until the girl romanticizes Taichi's disability. Nakazawa Motoki has been doing a fantastic job thus far. Both actor actually.
I also loved when Kohei was talking to Taichi about his family knowing that he might not hear him. He just wanted to let it out. What I loved so much though was that Taichi got annoyed and expressed his annoyance when Kohei said it was nothing. Then Kohei repeats what he said. It's those little things that make this drama feel real and relatable. And the actors are really doing a good job of conveying all these emotions. A smiling with pride Taichi is just, the best.
Episode 2 made me cry both sad and happy tears. The portrayal of disability was handled with sensibility. Kohei's…
What's more, I think it also showed that there are people who will not treat you too differently even though you have a disability. It really is how we view each other and how patient we are with each other. How we respect each other.
This drama had so much going for it. Cute guys who can act. Nice cinematography, Cool tone. A likable character in Kazuhito, But then things got dragged out and fell flat. It felt like there was little to no pay off. The hugs were better than the kisses. We didn't get to see their families/friends interactions with them as a couple. We don't even get to see all the worry manifest into reality to atleast make you understand the truth of being queer in Japan--or their worries of being queer. Just makes me wonder what all those 8 eps were for.
I'm actually frustrated now. I understand what they're doing. The reactions make sense. But we only have 1 episode left. I feel slightly cheated. I've been waiting weeks for a payoff that is going to be rushed with usual crap tropes. Which is even more frustrating because they made it seem for a split second that they going to put a meaningful spin on the same old tropes.
It's kinda criminal how underrated this drama is. + Very good acting + Good cinematography that's complemented by an awesome tone. + Good story via good character building
I must say though, I appreciated that they tried to make them feel like a couple without the typical roommates cohabitation bit. And they had many intimate moments which was surprising.
+ Music is surprisingly good.
+ Good acting from Michael Chang.

Oftentimes, people with disabilities might only be reminded of their disability when someone brings it up.
The Couple is cute.
The actors are cute.
The actors are good.
The cinematography is good.
The plot is unfortunately "bland and draggy."
