Thanks for engaging in this discussion with me! You also gave me insight into things I didn't pay too much attention to. Also I always giggled when i read the phrase "orange jacket" cause I swear I don't remember their names! lol.
I have to admit I am kinda new to watching Bl/LGBTQ movies. I mean of course I know homosexuality exists etc and I have friends and family who are gay but this year through cinema and BL tv dramas I FINALLY on a deeper level began to really understand the struggles and trauma etc gay people have and are still going through.
I still can't confess to some members of my family that I watch these movies/shows cause they would think my soul is doomed. haha I used to feel the same way due to my religious beliefs but even then I have never thought it right to disinherit, shun, abuse, beat, name call etc other people. I can only imagine what you have been through. Sending hugs!
I am sometimes hit by religious guilt even NOW (old habits die hard) and I understand people think it is not natural etc ( I was one of those) and that's fine but to suppress others, to stop them from choosing who to love is no one's right; and if their defense is that it's about God then let HIM judge them accordingly. Hopefully the proliferation of these shows into the mainstream will open up eyes and hearts in Korea, China and across the globe and people can live freely! Fingers crossed.
I agree, the steward is a tad bit messed up but not unsalvageable ;-) He wasn't psychotic/completely dead inside yet... Orange jacket guy seems tough, rough and tumble etc and so i think he can soften the steward's edges and "straighten him out" (NO pun intended ha! ). Kinda like a rogue with a good heart I guess? I think he was attracted to him at first just out of lust then curiosity then by the end of the night it was maybe wanting to take care of a broken bird, then back to lust :-)
That was one of the reasons I liked the movie, is it allowed the viewer to kinda piece together whatever end they wanted but at the same time its short runtime WAS frustrating. I had questions but I like that they weren't necessarily answered and the attraction wasn't explained clearly.
In regards to your last sentence maybe it is EXACTLY because of that (life as a damaged gay man in SK) that when he finally felt SOMETHING (I need italics haha) albeit for a random, cold stranger, he wanted to hold on to it a bit longer? Sounds masochistic but ain't that love lol
Cause I think he ended up turning the cab around and staying!? Or maybe that is just my wishful thinking. lol Or do you mean why did I like it. I just did. I liked the "is it is it not gonna happen?" vibe. I liked the hope of nothing turning into something... Yeah it wasn't the deepest or most profound but I enjoyed it!
I don't know how to review this because some parts were just bat s*** insane but in the middle of all that there was a beautiful love story (their chemistry was FIRE!) so yeah, I loved it. Sometimes you find some thing precious in the trash would be my description on this show. lol Also HOW is he NEVER hungover?!
I LOVED it all till the last bit. Watching this was akin to spending days and months working on building something beautiful (let's just say an underground project in the Swiss Alps {cause that's how ridiculous that ending is} ) and then a hurricane/typhoon/tornado oh even a tidal wave comes from NOWHERE and CRASH!! smh I can't even right now. WTF?!?!!
