I am not gonna go on a long rant being contrary to other viewers. Everyone has what they enjoy and don't. Personally I liked (not loved)it. The camaraderie between them all was gold. It got a wee bit slow pacing wise near the end. And the eye candy was good.๐
Also, *what* toxicity? It was a FWBs deal. So she developed deeper feelings? That doesn't make him an unsalvageable a**hole. At no point in time did he say he was sleeping with only her. People enter these things eyes wide open, get hurt then call the other person insensitive/selfish. haha I think now people just use the word toxic to describe any visceral show of emotion, character flaws, plot line they find uncomfortable, if someone/anyone commits human mistakes etc. I hope to God some of you are not out here judging your lovers/friends this way and basing your relationships on perfection. It doesn't exist. The one you love will in one form or another hurt you/your feelings. Sometimes deliberately (out of immaturity, jealousy, emotionally underdeveloped) and sometimes unwittingly. Depending on the gravity of the "sin" and the circumstance it does not mean you throw the whole person away. Ok I DID rant. Again not the best romantic drama but not trash like some say. Make your own mind up.
This was really really good. Teeny tiny gripes but all around was fantastic. Loved the portrayal of love and the idea of family and what it meant /how it differed in three different ones, the depiction of dark psychopathy and the police procedural vibe. Now I need more shows like it and don't know what to do with myself.
I can't remember the last time I watched a masterpiece that was also filled with plot holes, but so damn exciting, and emotional and exhilarating and frustrating and enjoyable and just sooo good interspersed with coincidences that were too coincidental (yes I meant to say it this way), with sublime acting mixed with dumb decisions. I mean... Should you pass it up? Don't even think to do so. Will some parts irritate your brain cells? Yes. But still a must watch. Sheer brilliance marred by over ambition. I loved it.
So refreshing. No draggy moments. Steamy kisses, gosh he's so sexy. ๐ Cheeks hurt from smiling. All in all an absolute joy to watch and just what I needed. If you're hesitating to start this just know you won't be disappointed. Okay one thing I hated her shoes and socks outfits hahahaha SUCH a small peeve
I personally don't hate this drama but it is on hold so I can watch the ones I REALLY am dying to watch but I need help. I am desperately trying to find the song that Wen Li plays for her friend when she was in bed. It plays for like 15 seconds and I took a pic of his screen which is silly cause I do not read Mandarin lol I believe it was episode 10 Help! I really love her voice.
Agree. It took me a while to realize he was the same actor in Rurouni Kenshin the movie. I binged watch through…
Yeah I have only seen his movies (RK being my favorite live action adaptation) and not dramas so I was verrry excited after starting it and not disappointed. Lol I'd lose sleep for him any day!๐๐ You should watch his other movies eg Inuyashiki, Samurai Marathon, Ajin.
Iโm rewatching it right now because I needed something light and fluffy. But what the hell is wrong with those…
Hahahaha this comment made me laugh SO hard cause that's how I feel about some of the things I read here. Sometimes I wonder if some people are living in some pink, flowery bubble and I wish they would invite me cause man their world is PERFECT. ๐๐
From reading some of these comments you would think the show was about two people who just willfully and selfishly ran around town cheating on their significant others. She actually tried very hard to resist his advances, was communicative with her boyfriend and he was pretty much done emotionally with miss crazy pants. The up in arms cheating outrage is very misleading. That being said it was a good show. No boundaries were shattered and no new ground covered but a good watch anyway. Not every show has to be mind numbingly amazing to be enjoyable. I LOVED her best friend.
I subscribe to Viki and Netflix because I watch a lot of Asian / mainly Korean series. I paid for GagaOOLala just…
It's good to have a network of friends maybe who can share passwords to accounts. I had to do that with my cousins Got HBO Disney etc all by using that method. Times are hard haha
Just got done bingeing. So here is my take yeah...
I get it. As someone who has read the manga AND seen the anime I understand the gripes but don't get the hate or the long winded complaints. Yeah the guys aren't identical to the manga/anime and people want the adaptation to be EXACT but that shouldn't be the reason to rate what was a pretty good show as poor etc. The actors did a great job portraying the characters. To me the manga was a little dark and deep, the anime more lighthearted but detailed and the live adaptation felt, well, human. The core/essence of the story was still there, the camaraderie felt real and I was surprised they could do all that in six short episodes without me feeling something was missing. Mafuyu in the live adaptation was not as "fragile" but I can live with it. I absolutely love Inowaki Kai but it was weird seeing my lil Kenji (from one of my all time favorite movies Tokyo Sonata) smoking. ๐ฏ He's a big boy now, my how time flies!!
It wasn't perfect but it was well done. The thing about most Japanese cinema/shows etc is that they are understated, seem more slice of life-ish and more REAL than the over produced, aesthetically "pretty colours" shows from other countries. Not hating on those, I love it all. Only thing I would have done was make it a few episodes longer because they never really addressed Haruki and Kaji's relationship and it was an integral part of the whole story in the manga. Maybe they plan to have a second season? If so, yes I will be watching it.
Side note: I preferred the song in the anime. When Mafuyu starts belting it out...Ugh my heart.... ๐ฅฐโค
Nyc! I also love to binge but for this I just couldn't resist the weeklyness of comments, all the theories that…
Haha it took everything in me to hold back. But some days I would come on this page to only read a few comments then run away so I didn't spoil the anticipation. ๐ I'm torn. I like where it ended but at the same time I loved the dynamic they all had and would love to see more of it. And yes I would love to see more of you know who and you know who's relationship...trying not to ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. ๐
Confucius say, "Patient dog eat fat bone". I waited and waited for this to finish airing and must say it was worth it. I hated not being able to join in weekly discussions but I love bingeing. Anyway here's me long a** comment/review. The BL pickings have been VERY slim this year with small, random shows like The Best Story, Second Chance and Be Loved in the House sneaking in and surprising us. Nitiman had such potential then it seemed like everyone threw their hands up and quit EVERYTHING after episode 6/7. This show for ME, was like a banquet to a hungry man. lol
There was comedy, Nam Goong had me laughing out loud, his character and the actor who played him were absolute gold. There was enemies to lovers, TWO love triangles one riddled with unbridled jealousy and another with a quietly suffering individual (how difficult and painful THAT balcony conversation was for Shin Woo) ALL done tastefully without any of it feeling forced, campy or over melodramatic. I say over cause that chick and her behaviour sometimes drove me bananas. I loved that Tae Kyung was spirited, didn't take things sitting down and didn't become a pushover for love. I loved the every day at high school feel without it seeming immature. Their teacher reminded me of a few I had in high school and college who changed my life in small but vital ways. Applause for him.
The only gripe I have is that maybe they should have made one or two more episodes showing the growth of the end relationship. It wasn't rushed per se but it also didn't completely explore the topic. I cannot say much without having to mark this as a spoiler.
All in all this was a really fun show to cleanse the viewing palate and one of those shows I will have on my rewatch list. 'Clean', breezy, entertaining and dealt with many issues with such subtlety you almost were not aware it was doing so. Watch it. Oh and "Watch where you're going." ๐โค
Holding on with bated breath to watch this in its entirety all at once and come spout out some long a** review lol . I have tried to stay away from this comment section and the wait is pain ;-) Almost there. Almost there. Almost there. haha
Violent, sexy, heartbreaking , hopeful and oh so sweet all in 45 minutes? What's not to like? This was a good short and worth the watch. So many of them end in tragedy or open-ended as if they can't decide how to conclude the story. This proficiently told an entire story and tied all the loose ends.
About the illegal sites discussion- 1: If you know you can't afford to pay to watch then WHY are you outing sites that are providing hard to find shows etc. That will only get them shut down which I guess is a pro or con depending on what side of the argument you stand on. I am guilty of this. I shared a link here once (thinking I was doing the community a favor) before finishing the movie. By the time I went back to the tab it had been removed so be aware that there ARE people checking this site for such stuff.
2: I have subscriptions for Netflix, Amazon etc but I am a voracious Asian movie cinephile and Asian show watcher so yes I have had to go to pirated sites (forgive me producers directors etc) for some hard to find content. I spend tons of time and energy searching for what I want to see. Just Google search things my people!!
That being said it would be nice if these small studios could get deals with Google and put their stuff on you tube with ads etc. I'm not sure the logistics of all that but...yeah it would help those who can't afford subscriptions A LOT . People with money seem to look down on others who honestly just cannot afford to pay but are huge fans of the content out there. It's a catch 22 so while piracy is wrong, being snobby/self righteous and mean is also not cool. Rant over.
I loved this show at the start and middle and even though it never reached it's full potential I am gonna stay faithful and keep my positive review. I was not angry at bringing the ex back (I mean, who doesn't have one in their past) but he was used poorly in terms of plot/drama and didn't ultimately add any real spice to the story. Would have been wayyyy better if the time was spent showing Shi Lei trying to woo Yu Zhen and melt that iceberg of a man and maybe show flashbacks with said ex and why he (Yu Zhen) is so rigid and cold. All in all not excellent but I DID fall in love with the characters and I will miss looking forward to it each week. Now on to the NEXT show for meeee. Hmmm which will it be? ***cackling like a banshee while rubbing my hands gleefully***
I'm just gonna jump on here to kind of "defend" @rolandgalicio's comment. I get what you mean by saying real life…
There are a couple of "older" generation LGBT people here on MDL who comment on how things have changed and how difficult life was for them when they were growing up. It helps put things in perspective to how times have changed and how their lives would be different now. Aging alone without a partner can be a lonely and difficult thing I can imagine whether gay or straight.

I totally get what you're saying. Love is an amazing thing and it's such a shame some are trying to deny it to others. Thanks for the info about A Secret Love. I will check it out!
