also do you guys know why channel 3 are (collaborating??) with other channels cuz like gap is from idolfactory…
Idol Factory (and Saint) is the producer of the series, not the distributor. It's being aired via Channel 3, but I'm guessing there must be an agreement they have with Idol Factory so IF can post the episodes on their YT channel to, which is awesome.
Now if we could just get Idol Factory YT added as a channel option here, that would be amazing.
Ok, so I really, genuinely want to watch this drama. I have a pending request on the fansubbing FB group. If anyone is a member of that group, could you please maybe ask the mods to check their pending membership requests? I've had the request in for 4 months now, at least.
With the rare exception, I hate the most popular dramas and do love the ones that almost nobody else has tried. It's a lonely life, but I've watched some amazing dramas!
Does that amount of BL feel excessive to anyone other than me? It's major overkill and has to burn itself out…
You are so right. An overabundance of just about anything does get old at some point. I find myself looking for niche dramas now, that don't quite fit in anywhere. I've found some amazing ones that way, particularly from Japan. Thanks for proving that it's not just me feeling this way.
I know we've had a few lesbian short series before, but this is the first time they make a BL drama length lesbian…
Does that amount of BL feel excessive to anyone other than me? It's major overkill and has to burn itself out at some point. If they're going to do it, make a few quality dramas every few months and leave it at that. Not the insane flood on the market that I'm seeing that makes no sense. I'm not out to denigrate the genre, but it just seems waaaaaay to much, like what Disney is doing with Marvel. They've made so much of it that I'm just not interested anymore.
Thanks, I appreciate the support. I would like to write for MDL but there's a glitch right now where new writers can't be assigned a draft. Not sure when that will get fixed, hopefully before too long, although it's been broken for a year now. Oh well.
I'm looking for something sweet, fluffy and hot, not overly dramatic, nor complicated, is this it? I just finished…
After trying both, SCOY has less toxicity. Cutie Pie has a lot of topics that can be triggering if people have been manipulated or struggled in toxic relationships. Just my own experience as a viewer, fans, please don't chew me up and spit me out.
I'm not a BL fan as such (for me, it feels like a lot of fanservice without a whole lot of depth), but this drama…
Also, as of right now (not sure what Viki's gonna do), watch the drama on the official Idol Factory page on YouTube. I hear it's the full rather than the edited episodes, which makes sense since they seem to have pretty good cohesion which usually means they're the full episodes.
Maybe the issue of toxic women will get more exposure, or be portrayed in a more negative light, as Japan's entertainment industry continues to evolve. I've seen the problem in Thai dramas too, and most viewers just give it a wink and a nod and move on, when technically, it's intense abuse against men.
Anyway, regardless, I do appreciate the work you both clearly put into your articles. Even if this one wasn't necessarily for me, it was still well-written and developed.
I am curious if you have any plans for an article discussing sexism in terms of women using sexism against men. Because it is a two-way street and I have seen some dramas where I was horrified by the behavior of the female characters because it was a form of abuse against the men they were "chasing." But the negative behavior was rarely commented on by viewers, whereas if the genders had been reversed with the women being the victims, the behavior would have been slammed. The secondary leads in the "Kimi wa Petto" remake are a good example. He's pretty much date-rape-drugged, but very few viewers said a thing about it. I'm curious about the trend and if viewers just have a blind spot where male victims are concerned.
I'm not sure what I think of the content, but it is well written. There aren't enough Jdrama articles, so I'm glad there's a few writers doing their best.
japanese absolutely fail at being kawaii in live action format, koreans do it so much better
I disagree about Japan failing at kawaii but then I've watched almost 100 Japanese dramas and there's a lot of kawaii going on depending on the genre. I can't say anything regarding Korea since I don't watch a lot of Korean dramas.
