I'm not a BL fan as such (for me, it feels like a lot of fanservice without a whole lot of depth), but this drama is brilliant because it is made for the community it is claiming to represent. Finally. Kudos to everyone involved and to Saint for producing something that doesn't feel like it was solely made for fangirls. I know part of his goal as a producer is to try to accurately represent the LGBTQ+ community for that community itself. If SCOY is any example of his ongoing intentions, then I think he's going in the right direction for that. I'm excited to finish it and I don't always say that. It's also kinda cute that I actually felt like Saint was playing himself, MCing and everything.
Give us another zeenunew show please I can’t survive on only promotional content😭😭
I can relate. Not to your pairing exactly, but a different one. Unfortunately, Zee is also a member of my favorite couple, but in my case, I know my couple is never going to happen again. 😞 Yours might, good luck. ❤
I can’t agree more : “” It's like some have been so conditioned by other BL series where everything is presented…
That is exactly why I'm liking it more than "regular" BL. Secret Crush on You is silly, but it feels more real in terms of how the relationships and the characters were approached. They feel genuine in their sexual orientation, in the writing and the performances, not straight guys playing around. I know that's what Saint wanted to do in the series, accurate LGBTQ+ rep, so I'm proud of him and his team for actually approaching the series from that angle. He took it seriously, it shows, and I love that. The fujoshi are honestly why I tend to steer clear of BL most of the time, the fangirling and the actors' fanservice drives me crazy. But if Saint produces more series like this, yeah, I'll probably watch them.
Thank you so much! This was such a fun article! I'm actually in the middle of watching Shoujiki Fudousan and just finished 4-punkan no Marigold! All before finding your article! One drama I love and isn't in your list, but does fit is Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge since Sunako-chan has some mad skills when she's pissed, what with the lightning and everything.
Proposal Daisakusen is a bit boring, yes. I just wasn't feeling it, even though I finished it. The special is better, but you have to watch the series really to appreciate the special. Let's just say that he's done better roles.
It is nice to see Yamapi in romcoms, that's always a definite, but I'm kinda liking that there isn't any in this one. The pressure to root for a couple isn't there. I can just sit back, relax, and spit my tea across the room from laughing so hard!
Really enjoying the Thai version already. I liked the Chinese version, but it ended up being forgettable for me.…
It's weird how awkward Kacha is in Put Your Head on My Shoulder with the photography scenes. I know Thai actors who are masters at posing and super skilled at it (Saintsup comes to mind), but Kacha doesn't seem to be one of them. Sad really because the character he's playing is sort of built up to be this highly sought after model and my thought is "why?" He is cute, though, I'll give him that.
I guess this wouldn't be a Japanese movie if somebody didn't die at the end. Most romance related movies from…
I have completed 99 Japanese dramas/movies in my watchlist.
30 I don't consider to be romance driven, or have any romance at all so they're disqualified, even if they have sad endings.
Of the 69 remaining, 54 have what I consider to be happy endings or what would be commonly viewed as happy endings by others (even if I prefer the SML).
So only 15 have what I consider a tragic or a sad ending (i.e., the leads don't end up together or one/both of them die) and they include:
Ato 3-kai, Kimi ni aeru Dried Flower: Our Room in July Drowning Love Haunted Campus He Won't Kill, She Won't Die Heavenly Forest Koizora Love at Least Love Like the Falling Petals Peanut Butter Sandwich Sky of Love Snow Flower Tokyo Tarareba Musume Your Lie in April
Of my Japanese romances that I've watched, only 30% of them have had a sad ending. Note that I've never gone looking for something as a specifically happy or sad ending. If the story sounds interesting, I watch it. If it happens to have a happy or a sad ending, then that's what it's got. Sometimes I hate that it ends sadly, other times, it makes sense.

These are just the ones off the top of my head. Yes, Japan likes its sad endings, but it likes its happy ones too. It doesn't mean that merry hell doesn't happen during the drama, or that the drama and its ending aren't a bit ridiculous, but these endings for these particular dramas are happy by the accepted standards of a happy ending.

They're not actually related, though, so not incest. Is it weird? Yes, absolutely. But it's not that weird.
Incest is sexual relations between people too closely related by blood. It's fine if adopted sibling relationships bother you but that is not classified as incest. Let's not blurr the lines of how this is classified please. I have extended family members who are victims of actual incest and trying to reclassify the term to be more inclusive does not help them.
