I’m just finishing up watching the original version thru the link I posted above, to prepare for the remake :) The video and sound quality were better than I expected!

I was 22 when the original came out. I remember thinking how exotic this show was and being swept away by it! Of course many things have improved since then, such as special effects, sound, etc., but it’s the acting that remains at the heart of any good show. It’ll be interesting to see how they pull this off. Normally I am strictly a binge watcher, but that won’t be possible with this airing on network TV for me.
I’m up to nearly 525 dramas completed and I am normally a binge watcher. However, I made an exception for this one — only the second show I have ever NOT binge watched. That said, having watched thru episode 9, I will now be taking a hiatus until all episodes are released and avoiding all reaction videos and other social media posts.
I have mentioned this in other forums, but this show is a game changer in many ways, not just for BLs, but for ALL genres. The writing, directing, acting, cinematography, music, the details, the emotions — everything is on a new level of excellence. Producers, beware, we will be expecting a whole lot more from you going forward.
On another note, I wish one day we could drop the BL/GL tags. This isn’t just a great BL drama … it’s a great DRAMA … period.
I quite enjoy these short little dramas, especially the ones set in the Republican era. They typically have hot MLs, beautiful FLs, a dastardly SML and a crazy ass SFL, along with sometimes questionable acting and storylines, beautiful costuming and enjoyable music … and I am here for all of it. This is definitely one of the better ones … a tasty little snack indeed. Highly recommended. Did I mention, the shower scenes? :)
By the way, “Stray Birds” is a real book, in case you were wondering. It is a collection of exquisite poems written in the 1900s by Tagore, one of India’s greatest poets. You can read more about him here:
Rabindranath Tagore was a Nobel Laureate for Literature (1913) as well as one of India’s greatest poets and the composer of independent India’s national anthem, as well as that of Bangladesh. He wrote successfully in all literary genres, but was first and foremost a poet, publishing more than 50 volumes of poetry. He was a Bengali writer who was born in Calcutta and later traveled around the world. He was knighted in 1915, but gave up his knighthood after the massacre of demonstrators in India in 1919.
It’s possible.
It’s definitely hosted by an interesting web site!
