I agree with you on Wu Bai (HYT was so wasted! He deserves more screen time in a more interesting role), the awkward chemistry (I loved them, but they were cringy and didn't really geld well in some scenes), the relationship with Ai Qing (totally had no place in this story and the two characters had no chemistry together - it was a waste of time to watch), and totally on Mi Shao Fei and Yaya! Yaya is so cute! I wanted to see MSF bring Yaya home and his parents be so happy that he's finally found a girl.
For Han Shangyan and Mi Shao Fei, they got everything in the end - the fulfilment of a dream and the potential to make families of their own. (Potential because our leads' marriage can't realistically survive if Squiddy grows as a character - and she's twenty so she will definitely grow.) On the other hand, the other characters from the original Team Solo fell flat. I understand the author/screenwriter tried to merge 3 books into one, but I honestly was bored by the flashbacks, or scenes that had nothing to do with the leads, or K&K boys, or MSF and Yaya.
I agree with you so much on second male leads, its like we have the same minds on this topic! I've always hated second male leads except where the ML was just not good enough, or where the second male lead backed off and got a girl of his own. I agree with you on the selfishness of the second male lead and the Dragon Prince in Ashes of Love. Honesly when I watched the show (after reading the book) I could not see where all he fans liked him except for his pretty face. The whole of the Heavens kept away from him, and I wanted Jin Mi to stay away from him too. I didn't even like his pretty face. He annoyed me so much I actually hated his character.
Second male leads are too entitled. MLs now, they sink or swim based on their actions, and accept the FL's feelings.
Well this drama must be pretty good, or pretty controversial if they are taking so long to censor it and cut it up etc. Expect it to not be so good after the websites and channels mess with the director's work. It amazes me how some people have no problem with the Chinese government detaining, isolating, and torturing people, with no lawyer present. This is morally wrong, whatever crime she committed. Actually, under that particular law, you don't eve have to do any crime for them to detain you. They just have to suspect you and torture a confession out of you. It's a tough situation.
