Emperor male lead is not something new. Many other Chinese costume dramas have emperor as male lead.

For examples = How Dare You, No Doubt in Us, Serenade of Peaceful and Joy, etc.

I understand your argument but I prefer they stick to dominant ML roles instead of giving all spotlight to female characters. They can be equal in nice way. In this drama, ML roles and fighting scenes are reduced to the point until many ppl saw him as supporting role and only FL took the spotlight here.

I prefer other Chinese dramas who have dominant and heroic ML + smart and strong FL at the same time.

And TPOB, SOKP, LLTG, Blossom, Fated Hearts, Kill Me Love Me, Coroner's Diary, The Double, The Glory, etc are BETTER than POJ because they are so balance between male characters and female characters. We have both heroic and dominant MLs with their strong FLs.

No need to dragging down other characters to make one character become outstanding. It's very lazy and unfair. And POJ did that. Some of ZLH fans even had complaints about ZLH fighting scenes and screentimes.

Who said Mainland audiences prefer SFL narratives? Many of them are still interested in ML stories, growth, and developments.

No. Many other costume dramas are better than POJ. This drama is highly overrated. The plot is good, but not unique or something special. There are tons of Chinese costume dramas with these type of stories, including palace politics, contract marriage, and general/wars/battles.

For General theme, Love Like The Galaxy, The Prisoner of Beauty, Legend of The Female General, etc are absolutely better and entertaining than this drama.

The most outstanding factor in POJ is Zheng Qing Jie's right directing + beautiful cinematography.

It's a shame that POJ cut most of Zhang Ling He fighting scenes and give the spotlight to FL.

Agreed. LLTG, The Double, TPOB, and even Story of Kunning Palace are better than POJ.

This drama is very overrated. As veteran Chinese dramas watcher, POJ plot is not something special. The directing and beautiful cinematography are the most outstanding factor in this drama. If they change the director and give it to someone else, the results will be totally different.

Nah, I TOLD YOU MANY TIMES that China NEVER ban Rebirth/Reborn theme in Chinese dramas. You can clearly see from newest dramas like Ashes to Crown (time travel) and Blossoms of Power (Reborn in different body), they PASSED the censorhip without going around with book/dream/game/etc.

So, for The Double and Legend of Female General case. It's all production CREATIVITY choices when they decided to remove their "Reborn" theme to different body.

And for "Rebirth" time travel to the past theme, we already had so many examples since 2022. For examples = Lost Track of Time, The Princess Royal, Blossom, Si Jin, Story of Kunning Palace, etc.

How about The First Jasmine? Did you drop it as well? It's not current airing dramas. The First Jasmine is the previous big production drama in June.

I think the intro and animation in Love of The Divine Tree are not AI. It was animated by real people. Many Xianxia dramas use that kind of animations for intro.

Pursuit of Jade and Love Like The Galaxy MLs are not weak in appearance. They are STRONG as generals. Especially Ling Bu Yi from LLTG. Where is the aspect that you call him "weak" in outer appearance? In the opposite, Ling Bu Yi was so strong in appearance and very charismatic. People were so scared of him as well.

Marquis Wu'an from POJ also had Ling Buyi vibes with strong skills and appearance.
