I don't mind about ROMANCE, because I really love romance genre in all dramas. We still don't know Xu Lu character is his biological sister or love interest. Or his adopted sister/childhood sweetheart who can be love interest. I heard that in the beginning of this project, Bai Guan was supposed to be Xie Huai'an love interest and help him in the journey.
Btw Cheng Yi is great in romance + kissing scenes. You should watch Love and Redemption, Immortal Samsara, etc. They are so good.
