Yeah, I was surprised that he said those things and it was a wakeup call to the King (would have loved it if he…
right haha, but it's also satisfying he made lanxi the heir (finally!!) and lost everything at the end, got betrayed by both his favorite son and his wife hehe, but i agree lol lanxi is too perfect, there is no way someone wouldn't dislike his father even a bit after all he did to him 😭
episodes 33-34 were really good, especially 34, the pacing and the actions were perfect, definitely making up for the two from yesterday, feng ju stupid but feng ju spilled about their father 💁♂️
HFX is scheming, ruthless and selfish, a product of his environment and loveless upbringing. In the first ep or…
in the novel he let the family staff die in the fire, crippled his younger brother when he was young and never felt remorse, use their marriage ceremony to kill his family without telling her and let his father get deadly injured (despite being a better father in the novel), think about betraying xiyun which result in the death of her generals, he’s a lot more ruthless

that’s the thing we barely see it in the first episode, then when he dealt with his uncle later and the rest is only implied, even if zhongli says she changed him except that he’s smiling more and started flirting with her there isn’t any actual change in his actions, even before he realizes his feelings for her he was always a filial son, never tried to harm his family, even saved a whole “bad” family from a fire, in the drama he never did anything that makes him deserves to be called ruthless, he was only cold and loner and became more warm and open to people
after today episodes and many thoughts, i’ve come to the conclusion that the script writer didn’t really understand/adapt xiyun and lanxi characters and this is why there are so many inconsistencies between the scenes adapted from the novel and the ones in the drama only, even during the first episodes many drama watchers didn’t get why xiyun was so prejudiced against lanxi, they introduce him as “selfish” and “scheming” but he is none of that in the drama, the leads are supposedly very smart and showed their cleverness in some episodes but suddenly becomes dumb when it comes to obvious things, like all of these are actually out of characters moments and it’s pretty obvious the script writer never fully grasped the characters personalities (or just didn’t care) and just did what she wanted with their characters to fit “her” plot without adapting well and keeping the characters actions and thoughts logical and coherent through the entire drama, honestly it’s frustrating because the drama could have been so perfect if not for these few details (and not just with the leads but others characters as well)
how come no one suspected wuyan who the moment he comes in the sect the leader dies? like why would xiyun do that now, if she wanted to kill him she could have done it way before? “a set up” anyone with a brain would know she would never do that? wuyan is a perfect stranger while xiyun has a father-daughter relationship with the leader, she has been in the sect for years, everyone knows she’s good and doesn’t kill anyone but accusing xiyun somehow of killing the master makes sense to them? if the script writer wanted a life-death situation for xiyun they could have write something more logical, plus every time wuyan is around (wether at lanxi kingdom and now at the sect) shit happens but no one ever suspected him
1. in the novel the others states think she’s sick (they basically used xiyun’s plot for lanxi in the drama)…
i like it too and it makes senses as well with his family (just remembered xiyun was the one with this plot after reading the question haha) i like the differences between the novel and the drama both are excellent my only issue is how xiyun was almost treated like a side character for +10 episodes in the drama but i’m guessing this has to do with the first director leaving the drama halfway since he was the one recording the fight scenes if i’m not mistaken (it’s only suppositions but maybe we could have get more wuxia and xiyun scenes in the martial world if he worked until the end)
Some things keep on bugging me. Hope you can help to enlighten me. 1. Do the other states know that Princess XiYun…
1. in the novel the others states think she’s sick (they basically used xiyun’s plot for lanxi in the drama) and always stays in her bedroom; the drama didn’t mention anything about it yet but i’m guessing they think she’s living in qingzhou like any other princess? but i hope they’ll explain it 🧐 if they kept the close relationship between the royal family and the soldiers from the novel they know about it yes
2. he would definitely try to marry her and since he likes her personality he would make her the empress without a doubt, i think both are good match and almost at the same level tbh? they mentioned qingzhou being stronger and youzhou weaker, so maybe xiyun is a bit a better match
