And oh boy, do I understand with your disliking the last few episodes of a Korean drama. These days, I haven’t been able to watch any k-dramas precisely because of that. I start them and get easily bored so I either end up skimming and watching the last episode, reading recaps or just dropping it all together. As you said even 16-episode dramas are hard to keep watching. That’s actually why I’ve switched to other Asian dramas like the ones I’ve recently watched. Don’t get me wrong – sometimes I have to skim there too but somehow they end up being more bearable than Korean ones.

Okay, so with historical dramas - I've watched Sungkyunkwan Scandal & the first 15 episodes I loved because of its characters & how cute it was watching Sun Joon & Jae Shin be roomies with Yoon Hee. One of my favourite dramaland characters is Goo Yong Ha. The only problem I had with it was that the romance felt a bit too lukewarm for me to really get behind it. Also, the last couple of episodes didn't capture my interest much so I admit to skimming. I did however LOVE the ending of that drama :D
I haven’t tried Arang mainly because the whole ghost thing was off-putting for me. But considering I watched Master’s Sun and loved it and you say it’s good, I might really have to give it a try.

Ahh, I can't believe I didn't send you a friend request already ;-; I honestly thought I did. Anyway, thanks for sending one! And I am definitely very glad to have met you because I feel like you're a drama soul sister :3 You have no idea how happy I was to see your comments. It makes me very excited to start this discussion (and I apologize in advance for the length - I really apologize. I didn't realize it would be so long. I had to type this out on Word before copying and pasting it. I'm sorry!!)

As much as I love her, I agree with you on Ha Ji Won's acting though I think at times it's more that Seung Nyang's become so resigned with everything that she tends not to show much emotion.
With each passing episode, I find myself becoming disenchanted with the drama. :( I guess it started with Ta Hwan's change in character since he was my favourite character in the beginning. I used to root so hard for TaNyang but even if Seung Nyang's putting up with everything that's been happening lately, I can't. I kind of just wish that he would sober up and become a good emperor already! I loved the first scene of the drama with him and Wang Yoo immensely & I can't wait for it to come full circle. However, this eloping-with-Taltal idea sounds better and better with each passing episode! xD
I don't know what I'm going to watch when this ends though. Have you seen any good historicals like this?

Havn't seen such a pathetic and worthless Hero in the history of my kdrama watching. she should run away with…
That's honestly the best ending that I've heard of for this drama!

I'm so disappointed.
(VERY BIG SPOILER AHEAD)
Maha died without ever knowing who his parents were. Wang Yoo arrived all excited to meet his son-only to find his dead body instead. Does anyone else feel that heartbreak? Because I sure do. I mean, I know historically Maha doesn't exist but if you give him an existence, at least let him be happy? He could have gotten to meet his father if not his mother. Then he wouldn't have died without knowing he really was. I thought that was a cruel ending for an 8 year old kid. Also, my heart broke for Wang Yoo. He's lost his throne (again), the woman he loves is now someone else's concubine, his friend (who could have possibly been more) Yon Feisu died and he found he had a son only to lose him before he could ever meet him as his son.
Don't even get me started on Ta Hwan or Golta. This drama is good but these last few episodes have been trying.

Is it wrong to hope for the deaths of Empress Dowager and Yom Byung Soo by the end of the drama? (Although I've been waiting for Yom the Scum to die since about episode 4.)

Even so, you amaze me with that number. It will take me years to even break 100, I feel. How many years have you been watching dramas?

I don't know what's going to happen but I agree with you! If only she could end up with Taltal. Taltal is the best option for an emperor in my opinion - he's courageous, intelligent, a warrior and he's not glory-obsessed like Bayan and Ta Hwan. But since we can't have that or Seung Nyang being with him, I must say, I really hope for Wang Yoo to be with her. I feel almost guilty saying that because of how much I shipped her with Ta Hwan in the beginning but as a husband, out of the two options, I feel like Wang Yoo is better for her. He can protect her, they can work together well and I feel like they still love each other.
All that being said though, I keep wondering how this drama is going to end. In death and sorrow, or with a glimmer of hope?
My only hope is that Taltal is alive and well by the end of this drama. ^.^

Trust me, I agree whole-heartedly that Ji Chang Wook is both hot & adorable. My problem lies with Ta Hwan right now. I loved his obsession in the beginning & how cute & puppy-like he was but you said it right-his character is being too emo for my tastes.
Oh, Taltal. I WISH he could end up with Seung Nyang. It'd be sad if it turns out that he has feelings for her since he can't act on it. Between Wang Yoo & Ta Hwan, I doubt there's room for our dear Taltal in Seung Nyang's heart. And yes, Wang Yoo's life really does suck. This may be unfair of me but I hope his relationship with Yon Feisu doesn't go anywhere. I know she loves him & all but if he has to be with anyone, I hope it's Seung Nyang & only her.
I feel the same way about it ending to be honest! I feel like if they continue, they'd descend into madness much like now. Hopefully the end is happy. The characters have suffered enough.

I just watched MBC's videos for episode 45 and the one with Ta Hwan and Seung Nyang - I'm afraid to even ask this…
@Nteti, thank you so much :D
@addicted2dramas, again I haven't watched the episode but based on what you just said - I get her looking as though she's fine & not a victim - but this IS Seung Nyang after all. Even if he did do something to her, she wouldn't show it. The woman's proud & strong. My thing was that she was in the corner while he slept & basically seemed to refuse to touch him after whatever that was. Of course, as someone mentioned above, considering the time period and the fact that he was her emperor and she his consort, she probably did consent when she realized she couldn't fight him off. I just have a big problem with him forcing himself on her. But then, she becomes his Empress? I don't know where this is going anymore to be honest :|

Hi there! I'm sorry I took so long to send that friend request! But hi, it's really nice to meet you. Feel free to talk to me anytime. I don't have enough drama-watching/fangirling people in my life so thank you for being willing to be one of them :D Ask away about the EK questions, trust me, I'm only too happy to answer. Also, wow, the number of dramas you've completed - I bow to your drama-watching prowess, friend! xD

Haha, I am definitely a fellow EK fangirl & trust me when I say I appreciate your fangirling VERY MUCH since there's no one around for me to discuss my feels with (aside from tumblr, of course).
As for your team question, honestly I'm not sure anymore. I started off being whole-heartedly Team Ta Hwan or as I like to call him Baby Emperor & basically shipped him so hard with Seung Nyang that my tumblr posts about them probably entered the hundreds. Then Taltal started being all awesome (although he was quietly awesome in the beginning too) especially around episode 24 which made me start to like him a lot. And then when Wang Yoo started protecting Seung Nyang, I liked him again.
So now, I'm confused about my ship.
For me though - I'd choose Taltal. That voice, intelligence & ponytail make me swoon *_*
Really enjoying all your EK pictures by the way. How do you feel about the end nearing?

I just watched MBC's videos for episode 45 and the one with Ta Hwan and Seung Nyang - I'm afraid to even ask this - but did he really rape her?
There weren't any subs and from the video, that's what it seemed like and as someone who's been a fan of him since the beginning this is disturbing, sad and angering me greatly if he really did that.

Also, if Wang Yoo is really still alive, I hope, for the love of all that is right in this world, that they do not dare play an amnesia card.
Or make him sleep with Yon Feisu or something.
Please, don't keep breaking my heart like this, EK writers!

HOLD UP.
I haven't watched episode 44 yet but from what I heard - Wang Yoo's dead. Then I saw the preview for episode 45 and there's Seung Nyang drinking herself into oblivion while Ta Hwan forces his way into her chambers and apparently tries to force himself on her?
What the heck is going on?!
SEVEN MORE EPISODES AND THE FIRST SCENE IS NOWHERE IN SIGHT.
How is this going to work out?!

Awesome, wonderful, spectacular! Just finished this drama and I found myself with a goofy grin as I watched the last scene. It was such a great experience to watch Xiao Jie's character grow and flourish into such a marvelous person. Also, Zhang Han as Tang Jun wins your heart immediately with that charm and that smile. I began watching this initially because of Godfrey Gao since I wanted to hear him speaking Mandarin, having seen him as Magnus Bane in The Mortal Instruments movie. And boy, was it a treat to watch this man. I alternated between like and dislike for Zhi Qi but it's so hard to hate on Mr. Gao. Ultimately though, Zhi Qi finally won me over and again, I really adore the way the drama ends.
Highly recommended!

I seem to have a thing for the Goryeo and Joseon dynasty periods more than anything else for some reason - the costumes, the music even just seem to fascinate me although I've never done much research on the history itself. As for the tumblr - my username is obsessedwithfandoms (http://obsessedwithfandoms.tumblr.com) and you can have a look but be warned of my craziness ^.^ do you have a tumblr account?
