I powered through and ignored the makeup and the problematic beginning as best I could. Had to rewatch the ending to fully get it but turns out they’re on their third reincarnation. Since there’s a “The End”, I’m guessing they won’t drag it out into season 2 which is great news because I hate when they do that. My rating is 7.5 but keep in mind that is with watching at x2 speed and skimming through some scenes. I do think this drama is interesting because there was quite a few twists and turns but as it’s so short, it feels very choppy. You can follow along but it doesn’t really give much satisfaction. Or maybe that’s my fault because of the way I watched. Either way, I do think it’s worth a try if you can get past the beginning and the makeup. If it was longer with better quality and acting, the storyline could be on par with something as dramatic as Goodbye My Princess.
Considering this is over 10 years old and it’s my first time watching this, I’m very surprised that it doesn’t seem more dated apart from the makeup. Having watched Extraordinary Attorney Woo not too long ago, I think I prefer EAW though. Still enjoyed this drama though.
UNNECESSARY. This was meant to be a HAPPY second chance! Why add this stupid ex-fiancée?! I signed up to watch joyful revenge on the cheaters, not this.
I rewatch this drama almost every other year and it never fails to make me smile :’) Idk why the student-teacher romance bothers some people so much. There are much worse age gaps, much worse starts to relationships (especially in real life) and personally, I think they handled it appropriately. No one in the drama, not even the people falling in love, thought they should be together at that age so I don’t get why it’s a big deal that they get together later on. Anyway, my opinion: I still love this drama.
I really like the changes they’ve made. It retains the feelings of the webtoon but it’s still surprising to watch the twists. I really appreciate how Ji Won got a one up on that awful manager and director. Hoping the worst two (Min Hwan and Su Min) get an even better comeuppance!
I am very glad I saved this for a binge! As much as I like the actors, I don’t think I would have been very loyal to wait for the episodes, especially over 3 months. Now just to wait for the final episode but honestly I’m just glad that the idiot finally found out the truth.
1. Number of 2023 dramas - 20 2. Country most watched - China (21/31) 3. Genre most watched - Romance 4. Top drama listed in the article - Lost You Forever, Till the End of the Moon, Hidden Love 5. Top drama not listed - Story of Kunning Palace 6. Drama journey was great compared to other years! Toward the end, I really got back into kdramas after a long slump. 7. Wish or plan for dramaland - Please get rid of this multiple seasons nonsense, leave that for the Americans!
I miss the days when c-dramas just had one season and could be 70+ episodes long without any breaks in airing. This American way of multiple seasons is just so annoying ):
I was thinking the same! She has money and no worries. Most likely a step sister as there is something about his…
In the webtoon, it was that Ji Hyuk’s dad remarried after his mom passed and had Hui Yeon with his second wife but I don’t think they ever advertised their children hence why both are able to work in U&K anonymously.
I loved it in the webtoon and I loved watching it come to life in episode 3 - I adore a good makeover montage! Plus watching Su Min’s fakeness be exposed, so satisfying. Can’t wait for the next episode when Ji Hyuk’s glasses come off :D
Na In Woo is perfectly cast as Ji Hyuk, especially the broad shoulders and the height (188.6cm!!!!). I do think the hairstyle should have been a bit shorter though. Can’t wait for him and Ji Won to ditch the glasses!
(Disclaimer: I am not a glasses hater, I myself wear them. It’s just some people can pull them off and I feel like they intentionally used ugly glasses for them to emphasize their later glow up à la Clark Kent)
Actually, everyone is really well cast. The actress playing Su Min has her mannerisms down even if I don’t think she’s as cutesy as she is in the webtoon.
I read the webtoon a while ago but I don’t remember Ji Hyuk being everywhere to save her! Makes the plot a lot more predictable but I don’t really mind because I’m just so glad to see this being made into a drama. Also, one of my favourite chapters is the cat special with Pang’s thoughts. It’s a long shot that they’d include it but how cute would that be?
This was so good but it felt very rushed, like scenes were cut and lots happened that wasn’t shown. I do wish I could’ve seen more of the villains being punished but I guess there’s only so much they can show in 8 episodes.
