Well, I guess he didn't exactly murder Shiori since her fall was accidental, but he's definitely involved in it. And maybe we can say that he "temporarily" got away with it. Rio's smart, she already got an idea of what happened, and so are Fuji and Kuwako. They'll connect the dots in no time, and they already know that Kase's behind it anyways, so you can say that Kase's off the hook for now but sooner or later I bet that he'll be arrested.
I get why some may be unsatisfied with it since it's open-ended and the last episode was quite rushed (and I'm guessing this is what you think, too?), but I personally like that it is since it perfectly displays the drama's theme, of the extents that you can go to protect your beloved, and how "the truth disappears with love". And since Arai P mentioned thinking of doing something "extra", who knows, we may get an SP or something soon, and maybe some answers, too!

Same, I like the ending! I think it feels very real, in that justice is very twisted. I unexpectedly cried when Nagamine was shot, maybe because I can empathize with his feelings, that "so close" moment.
It's very real as well that Makoto wasn't punished. I'd like that little shit to be punished for being an accomplice as well, but in reality, most people can get away with it. Same with Sugano, heavy his crimes might be but he's a juvenile, and he can get away with a lighter sentence than he deserves. But then again this is where Wakako's question to the police comes in. "Should there be such a distinction between those who are forgiven for killing and those who are not?"
Also, idk about you guys but I'm just as mad at that "journalist" as I am at Sugano. As angry as I am though, again, this happens in real life, too, doesn't it?

Yo! I just felt like her character has that potential to draw annoyance from viewers based on past experience with other dramas I've watched haha - almost all of the characters protect her and that leads viewers to think, "Why Rio? What's so special about her?".
That special thing is written carefully by the writers and beautifully portrayed by Yoshitaka Yuriko. I agree she's adorable, I just wanna hug her when the drug was approved! And I think this side is also thanks to Yuriko's charm coz her performance made Rio so lovable :)

ME TOO!!! Every thought is crowding in my mind but I guess first things first - IKRRR finally more background on Kase! I personally like that they went that route. I didn't want them to make a minor-character-who-wasn't-even-fleshed-out the culprit. It definitely sheds light on his actions in the previous episodes, and just why he already know the exact location of Watanabe Akira's murder in E06 when he was trying to prove Yuu innocent.
The mixed emotions I have over this I swearrr. So happy for Rio/Daiki but also sympathy for Kase.
Will go back to add more here once I watched it with subs but..... damn. Rio is soooo loved by many. Sanada Rio walks the fine line of someone we can sympathize with and someone who can be annoying, but it is ultimately thanks to Yuriko's delicate acting that she is someone viewers can sympathize with. You can understand just why she's loved and just why you'd want to protect her.
The finale hit me like a truck with all them feels, but I love it. It's an ending very fitting to the theme of the series.
